The mask used in Halloween for the Michael Myers character was the face of William Shatner (Shatner apparently didn’t know for many years). They made it creepier by bleaching it or painting it or whatever.

Future Halloween movies, or some competing franchise, can use masks of these people. No modifications needed. In fact, maybe let’s tone it down because we want to make a scary movie, not traumatize everyone.

This is like in star wars when good people turn towards the dark side and their appearence turns into monsters.

Not for Anakin though, he is special and needs to look good to sell tickets.

They were ok, can’t say they were supermodels but looked ok, however their transformation into a skinsuit is horrifying.

Why not treat it like a regular F2M or M2F transition? Couldn’t it be that these are genuine expressions of who they are?

A big thank you to the moderators of this community for the work you do.

I say this because, even not having read the contents of this thread yet, I know that there will have been plenty of instances where discussions get a bit too… spicy, potentially requiring moderator action. Enforcing the boundaries of civility is a tricky and often thankless task, but an important one. People are angry, and justifiably so. This makes it easy for threads to degrade into toxic chaos, so thanks for trying your best to stop or slow the decline of this thread.

I think I figured out part of why the word “ghoulish” kept coming to mind.

When the face is full of filler, the eyes become sunken in.

Just like a ghoul from fallout.

And then they all have small noses. And these too will sink in.

    So ghoul.

The thing is, it’s almost impossible to have that filler removed. Plus it has stretched the skin. So removing it would make their face look like how the skin looks in an area of extreme weight loss. That’s kinda whatever on people who have lost weight/had babies , It is what it is.

But This will really mess up the face. It’s not natural.

The alternative is to keep adding more filler until the face is 5x thicker and the eyes are so far sunk behind bags of filled flesh that they look black and demonic.

Plus the filler is absorbed by the body, but at different rates. So in a few years it’s gonna be irregular and lumpy. Some people go to the extreme length of having glass microbeads mixed with the filler (this is illegal in the US) but those migrate around within the tissue. Once you start this shit, it’s just a constant Death Becomes Her maintenance operation to keep it from looking worse.

Or as they say in Ab Fab, “pretty soon you’re a just visitor in your own face.”

Recently saw a video from an ex-maga, ex-mormon woman who speaks about these people and it was specifically about this face. she said they look like that because they’re doing drag. i see it. it’s performative gender expression.

What interests me is that I’ve never once heard an actual explanation. “They’re doing drag” might be true in an analytical sense from an outside perspective. But it’s not the reason they do it.

One would assume the reason you start is because you’re encouraged to get some Botox and subtle touch-ups are a very beauty trend among women. But they all end up with very similar features and it’s always overdone. So there must be common pushes and pulls. I would just like to hear it in their own words what has led them to this.

It’s more that they do what drag typically mocks - that kind of hyper performance of feminine conformity. Classic drag has always been mocking the way that conservative women perform gender roles.

It’s supposed to look like they got work done, because it reflects their commitment to the idea that women should be always performing “woman.” Women are meant to be looked at by powerful men, and they are acceding to that understanding.

Again, I agree with you, you basically repeated and expanded on the point of the person I replied to. Like what you’re giving me is a good anthropological analysis.

But if you asked these women why/how they got to this point they would not say “well I’m just commiting to my performance of being a woman to appease the male gaze”

For one thing, most of them probably still hold agency to themselves despite the fact that it seems clear they are doing this to appease men. They would most likely have explanations for all their changes and who/what influenced them.

A terrifying probability is that these women literally get told by their spouses/others that if they don’t get these specific surgeries they won’t be able to do something. If it’s that then I would like to know who specifically tells them this and what they tell them.

I can say as someone who’s seen similar things in different groups it’s body dysmorphia. You focus on a flaw you want to fix enough to pay to get it fixed and it’s better, but if you don’t have discipline about it you’re prone to still see it. It’s similar to anorexia where they go from seeing fat that may or may not be there to seeing the torso bulge of having organs and thinking that it’s fat.

Then there’s social factors. If your social group has worries, well humans tend to echolocate reality off what those around us think and say, so you’re prone to the same worries and the same solutions.
