You know that shit’s gonna peel like a boiled egg

That’s what you’re hung up on? There’s a whole subgenre of sharks with tits.

There’s an art to it. I’ve read books where the villain wins only for it to be revealed that the protagonist was fighting for the wrong side. The only one who’s title comes to mind is Columbus Day, where humans team up with aliens to fight other aliens that invade earth, only to realize that they joined the “fascist-leaning” side of the conflict as a species-wide pawn.

Sci Fi is a flavor of fantasy that favors grounded explainations over magic, yet can’t escape it entirely. In order for something to be sci fi, it must have something in it that can be percieved as “magical,” even in the “sufficiently advanced technology” sense of the word. Jump/warp tech, laser weapons, space warfare in general, most life support concepts, AGI… All magic as far as we know now. Any sci fi without the roots of fantasy is really just modern fiction.

Protection from grit. And because polymers that can resist balistic shock and heat had only very recently been invented by then, and it was “cool” to find a way to make it useful.

That’s a smoke screen. Another is the “liberal brainwashing machine” school system scare. What they fear is the statistic that higher educated individuals trend towards populism and progressivism. They see higher education of youths as a threat to their political base, which turns into “spineless parents sending kids to liberul brainwashing camps funded by the gubmnt.”

The ghost of Reagan?

Not to mention that if he is off of any 1 ballot and loses, he has ammunition for another Jan6. If he has a “fair shot” and loses, there is less plausibility and (hopefully) fewer followers in the repeat.

Which this probably is if they want to pack as much data as possible in one unit.
Question: We’ve seen sand-filled missiles due to corruption and cronyism, and they were actually transfered to the front line expecting to be live munitions. How many Russian ICBMs do you think are truly functional between the “new” ones and the 70yo cold war hulks?
To be clear, I don’t revel in the idea of a war between the Ruskies and NATO, but Putin is certain to be wondering this, too. How effective are his strategic assets, truly? I’m sure the CIA has figured that out and is guiding US response on that intel. They know exactly how far an insecure dictator can be pushed.
As someone with ADHD, life is exactly this: negotiating with your brain to do the unrewarding thing by including a reward (i.e. buying a $40 pair of fluffy socks to make laundry end in a pleasant feeling). My “did a good job” dopamine response is hella muted and it makes anything that isn’t an immediate need or spur-of-the-moment whim get prioritized very poorly. Having a “transactional view” may be less about personality and more about mental makeup.
Clippy never had a voice and tbh the one that comes to mind for him is not very easy on the ears. Like downpitched spongebob.

Titan A.E. - The last great Don Bluth animated film that sank Fox Animation at the box office is still an incredible hidden gem from 2000.

You neglect the versatility of our tabboo language, too!
Take English’s favorite swear: Fuck.
Fuck is:
It can be used to express:
And that’s just scratching the surface!

Some retired old fart who can’t be bothered to learn fancy-schmancy Web 2.0. Rock on like it’s '93
Yeah… I wouldn’t enjoy it as much if it was “honey I shrunk my little bro.”

I heard my monkey’s paw shake in the drawer. Do NOT wish for that.
