The cofounder of the $4.53 trillion AI chip giant says Americans should return to factory work—for their own prosperity and the country’s. Howard Lutnick claims technician roles can start at $90,000, no college degree required.
This fucking sucks man, we can either be something like “prompt engineers” or “data labeling analyst” or we can go do manual labor. In the first case it’s a race until those jobs are also automated away. In the second case you can race your body giving up with your labor being devalued so much you are basically a slave. This AI future sucks.
In the second case you can race your body giving up
This needs to be talked about a lot more. I know there’s a shortage of skilled trades people in the U.S., but long hours, harsh conditions, and physically demanding work are rough on older workers.

There’s quite of few “alpha” men who think they’re rich making $100k-$120k/yr for skilled labor but also work 50+ hrs/wk
It might be alright in your 20s and 30s. Less alright in your 50s.
