Fediverse@lemmy.ml•TIL Maegul coined the term 'threadiverse' June 5th 2023English
5·5 months agobut if I am using Lemmy and someone says follow me on the fediverse, I have to say I can’t because there isn’t that ability. I think that’s one of the main differences that the word Threadiverse differentiates
Have a link to it? Or a screenshot?
Sort of amazing people are just discovering this now, I was so into this when I first found out about it back in the tumblr days
Would love to see a 3d recreation of as much as possible. Would be cool to go thru all the videos and documentation of it and build a real 3d world from that

2·7 months agoA neologism my mother taught me as I was first learning to talk (and eat) was ‘clurt’
If you are eating something that is drippy like yogurt or soup you need to clurt your spoon before you put it in your mouth. Grew up saying this and was always confused when people didn’t understand what I was talking about

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Can the term 'link aggregator' be changed to 'decentralized forum'English
4·7 months agoI agree that ‘link aggregator’ is a horrible term that is only relevant to nerds and shouldn’t be used in any general user facing way as a description. I think this is the sort of thing that is really a collective failure of the fediverse and open source / free culture projects in general is how out of reach all of our lingo is to anyone not already in the in-group.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Google Fonts has a font called "Manufacturing Consent"English
65·7 months agoI don’t know if anyone here realized this but the font in question here is made by Fredrick Brennan who is probably best known as the founder of 8chan

2·1 year agoThis is so so cool. Also the first time I have seen Lemmy comments directly on a blog.

Every release gets better and better. Makes me happy to see all the work that goes into this weird network that is Ours!
