I like the color choices. A tip for painting with painters tape, if you paint the base color first over the tape, after that dries, paint the contrasting color on top of that, Then remove the tape.

You will get crisper lines, because the bleed with happen with the base color on to the base color, not the contrasting one.

I always opt for something you can eat or drink if they say they don’t want gifts. That way it won’t clutter anything up and you were still able to give them something. This 100%. Everything you write on any of these chats, anything you write in email, anything you exchange digitally can be monitored if it is not end to end encrypted.
