No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What was the first thing or video or music or whatever that was so called "pirated" from the internet? How did it happen and was the end user happy? And can you still access it?
61·16 days ago1998 - downloaded hundreds of Super Nintendo, arcade and neo geo rooms to play on an emulator. Used my university’s fast internet connection and a Zip drive to download hundreds of files. A year later got my very own ISDN line then began downloading MP3s and grainy movies. Seeing how the entertainment industry has deteriorated over the years, I don’t feel so guilty these days.
Oh behave! 🤓

10·1 month agoSadly true. All the tech giants either support genocide, spy on innocent citizens or socialise with billionaire paedophiles. In most cases, it’s all three things

2075·3 months agoDisney are also really shitty at removing any context in their movies. An interesting scene at the beginning of the movie Encanto a flashback references an unknown conflict in Colombia resulting in the death of the grandmother’s husband. What conflict Disney? Who were the bad guys Disney? Further research by an interested viewer will reveal that it was a civil war involving a right wing of rebels backed by the US, rose up against a leftist government.
And also the concept of both siding an argument. For example, if an astronomer is interviewed to talk about the curvature of the earth, a flat-earther will also be invited to offer an ‘alternative’ opinion
