I feel we’re moving away from what I understood your point to be: the public has to get comfortable with Generative AI being used in media and products.
I don’t agree with that point.

It isn’t a problem for consumers to make decisions about what they want to support. Those decisions might not line up with your beliefs, but people can still make choices about what they do or don’t support.

If you don’t personally have a problem with GenAI, that’s fine. Nobody else has to accept it or like it for themselves though.
What’s the first punchline? I see one punchline.
I’m gonna defer to women’s experiences on this one, as I don’t experience it myself.
I think I’ve lost the thread of what you’re saying mate. The comic is totally different if you remove the punchline, you’re right.
I mean I don’t experience being asked when my period was or having symptoms I report being flippantly put down to “being a woman”.
The point of this comic is to express frustration about a current and long-standing issue I’ve heard many women express frustrations about, which I understand to be: doctors not really listening to them when they list specific issues or symptoms, and “railroading” them into it not being something to worry about, or putting it down to them being a woman.
The question can be seemingly routine, but as a guy who doesn’t experience this kind of thing when I go to the docs I can certainly imagine how frustrating it could be to encounter these questions upfront and to feel unheard, especially by a medical professional when I’m worried about something.
I wonder if that’s a bad analogy or just not a very good one 🤔

You and I certainly pronounce either “consume” or “womb” very differently if those words rhyme for you 😂 where are you from, out of curiosity? No judgement, just curious as I’m not sure I’ve ever heard an accent where those words rhyme!
Haha, sorry yeah it was a bit much
“well you don’t have to get defensive about it… Is YOUR whole personality asking people if their whole personality is asking other people if it’s their whole personality to ask people if travelling is their whole personality?”
shitting
Wait, so your sibling went to Thailand in a bungalow paid for by your dad, and dated a prostitute who was scamming your sibling? Or scamming other people?
Right? It’s so hostile 😂
“What else?” is such a hostile way to engage in small talk. Yeah okay so somebody responded with a bit of a vague answer, but “tell me about yourself” is hardly a specific question.
This is just normal small talk openers; they don’t really get you anywhere, but they open a dialogue and you can both work to keep the conversation in the air from there.
For the asker in this situation, I would have tried following up by asking “oh cool, where did you go?”, which might have advanced the conversation and potentially led to a more specific conversation about one particular place or experience.
If I was answering this question, I’d struggle. I’d probably try to avoid answering with my job, so I’d probably pause (which is totally allowed in conversation), and honestly I think I’d ask what they wanted to know - because I find the question too vague. If I absolutely HAD to answer, though, it depends on a couple of bits of context. Firstly, who is asking? What’s my relationship to them? Secondly, where are we?
If they’re somebody I’ve just met at a pub, I’d give a wider answer that opens up responses, like “well, I’m big into music - I play a lot of guitar and bass, and I’m actually on the lookout for some new artists to check out – are you listening to anything this week?”
I know it’s a vague answer and might even come off deflective, but it’s a hard question to answer and really I want to move off of speaking in vagueries as soon as possible when I’m talking to people because I find it boring.
I’m curious about and interested in people, and don’t find it hard to be invested in things people tell me, but when you stick on the very very surface level and non-specific details like “I like music” or “I like food” or “I like travelling”, it’s sort of difficult to find anything to latch on to without digging deeper to specifics.
Not that I’m gifted socially, I’m not saying that (and in actuality I find socialising pretty nerve-wracking and uncomfortable a lot of the time, you might be able to tell lol), I’m just thinking through what I would do and have done in these situations. Also yes yes this comic is a joke obviously etc., this is more of a response to the comments.

Authenticity in art is antithetical to business, a tale as old as authenticity, art, and business.

Just a heads up for anybody seeing this: not only is this disinformation program obviously a bad idea that will serve only to muddy the waters, but this guy loves AI and is presumably using it to build the whole thing. What a fucking mess.

Keep Lemmy Weird ✊

We’re just ignoring the concept of “joking” now yeah?
I can’t taste the difference between eggs from battery farmed hens and free range ones. I still try to avoid battery farmed eggs.
You can call me a luddite, and you’re totally welcome to your opinions about the ethics of Generative AI usage in media, art, and products that you buy or enjoy. You don’t need me to tell you that.
I am also welcome to my opinions about the ethics of Generative AI usage.
I, personally, do not like it. I, personally, will not knowingly purchase art, media, or products that use it. It’s that simple.
I have to take the word of the company or creator I’m buying a product from if they say they haven’t used AI, but I can take that word in context. Do I feel like this company has a bad reputation of lying to customers? Do I feel like I can see signs of Generative AI? Do I, ultimately, trust that word?
I don’t have to buy big mainstream video games if I want to avoid Generative AI. As it happens, I’ve not long since sold my PS5 and all my games. I have a PS2 and a small collection of older games. I rarely use it.
I stand by my beliefs. ✌️
