Depending on what I am looking for:
- BBC Radio 6: mainly new stuff, although I have been surprised with very good oldies.
- The newsletter To the teeth for all things metal https://totheteeth.substack.com/ The playlist in spotify is really good too.
- Last.fm, even if it’s not as used anymore, I still find very good recommendations there.
- Spotify Discovery playlist has surprised me a lot in the past, but not that much lately. It suggests me what I was in the mood to listen to last week, maybe not that much today. The daily mixes are fine, but it’s pushing the same songs too much.
- The website https://1001albumsgenerator.com even if I am not a fan of some genres, it’s good to learn about some records.
From this same thread I am sure I will use https://www.gnoosic.com in the future.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What music genre or artist changed your life?
2·3 years agoI can’t pick just one band, however, I clearly remember the first time I listened to
- Black metal as a genre
- Aphex Twin
- Aenima by Tool
- Traversee by Year of no light
- Black Sabbath
- Industrial Rock in general and Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails in particular
- Hyperballad by Björk
I’m sure there are more if I think for longer.

I started with no TTRPG experience at all around a year ago. There are some games (like D100 or Four Against Darkness) closer to a boardgame than an actual TTRPG. You throw dice and go with the results, no need to roleplay.
Regarding solo boardgames, I would say games where you play alone together, like each player doing it’s own thing in the board with minimal interaction or minimal rules modifications. Spirit Island already mentioned is one great example, Cartographers, Sprawlopolis or Agropolis, Resist!, One deck dungeon… seriously, there is an amazing amount of options depending on your taste (deck building, throwing dice, etc.).

Music@beehaw.org•Do you listen to any new bands? Or just same as 10 years ago?
1·3 years agoOf course not 😅 I’m not judging them at all, I finished years ago that phase where I thought my music taste what better than theirs
now I just know it is/s

I see you are a man of culture. I’m not really into the thrash metal scene beyond some albums from Testament or Machine Head, but that album is amazing. What Rick Rubin achieved there was wonderful.

2·3 years agoI’m doing something similar following this project https://1001albumsgenerator.com you don’t need to register with an email, although it helps. A new album is suggested everyday, and even if they are not they kind of music you usually like, I am sure you will be able to appreciate why it was included in the list.

1·3 years agoYeah! So many music available that it’s impossible to get bored. I am not the biggest Beatles fan, but I really cringe when somebody says they are not that good, they are still copied!

3·3 years agoAdulting is hard, less time to explore new music. What do you like?
For solo RPG? The standard suggestion nowadays is Ironsworn to be honest. And it’s free! I wasn’t a big fan at the beginning, so I started with Scarlet Heroes, it has everything you need to play pretty much any OSR game.
Then there are lots of specific games for solo, especially journaling games. Or using game master emulators you can play almost anything (Mythic GME is the most famous for a good reason).
What would you like to try? I’m quite new on this area but I might be able to suggest a couple of books. There are a lot of tools available to play anything available in the market.
I saw some messages about it, but the main reason I play solo boardgames and TTRPGs is to stay away from screens after spending the whole day at work 😅

I am still learning the basics. And it’s time to make it a bit more difficult!

Gaming@beehaw.org•The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's gameplay was revealed 10 years ago yesterdayEnglish
3·3 years agoI got the game when it was released for Nintendo Switch some years ago. Being able to play it anywhere, anytime, that’s amazing.
However I haven’t played yet the DLC Hearts of stone. I don’t want to finish this wonderful game.
Besides some Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, I’m mainly playing Ironsworn: Starforged. I recently got the book and I am appreciating what Shawn Tomkin did here.
I may play a bit of Spirit Island later if I have enough time to spend focusing on it.

Amazing band, one of the best gigs I’ve gone to this year.
