  • Basically this, they rage quit and go back to windows or even a Chromebook. I try to support customers on linux but they need to be talked away from Arch if they are just grtting started.

Arch forces people to learn what MOST dont want to and MOST people shouldn’t need to, just to do basic tasks on a computer.

Switch to Arch later if you’re curious and want the training wheels off, or don’t if you just want to use your pc as an appliance and walk away.

  • Remote access is the one pain point. There is very little for RMM or remote software that works on wayland. KDE has that in the works already.

Everybody says Rustdesk but it is a bad joke regardless of wayland.

Personally I host a simplehelp server(paid) and it’s really good but wayland support is a no go so far.

Everything else has been categorically better and fixed a lot of issues for me that I used to have on X11 which I’ve used for like 15 years.

X11+Gnome until gnome 3 then KDE for me because I’m not using a damn tablet (or workspaces).

That’s just untrue though, onedrive doesn’t work like that. I’m not saying Microsoft doesnt steal data either, but onedrive isn’t required for that. In fact it can suck so hard it won’t sync shit while running.

Defender can literally submit anything it wants to Microsoft by default and doesn’t hide it.

  • I can fully encrypt my PC/BIOS password/secureboot if I have Linux on it. If I relock my bootloader with Android then I’m completely fucked if anything goes sideways. If I leave it open the phone gives a fucking warning on boot that the phone is unlocked and may be insecure and that warning can’t be disabled or locked. (Pixels)

I hope Android gets taken away from Google, 11 was the last somewhat useful upgrade.
