Starting from Android 15 you should be able activate a native “terminal” app in the Developer Settings, which is Debian running in a VM. No need for termux anymore. I have it activated in GrapheneOS but haven’t used it much.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which TV brand is the most reliable in your experience?
4·5 months agoI also got a really old Philips TV that is still going!
Just be aware that since 2011 the Philips brand for TVs and monitors was sold to TPV Technology.
Doesn’t mean they’re bad now, but maybe not worth it paying a premium for that brand name.

For your health? Yes, there shouldn’t be any downsides at all.
Vegan weightlifters for example have to rely on them nearly completely for their daily protein intake.
Personally I don’t care much about high protein recipes.
I just eat whatever I want and supplement with unflavored soy-isolate protein shakes. I consume 30g of protein 4 times a day. I could drink a 30g protein shake with a side of fruit/veggies or eat a meal that has only 10g protein in combination with a 20g protein shake, or eat a single meal that has at least 30g of protein.
KISS - Keep it simple, stupid!

World News@lemmy.world•Tesla sales plunge 40% in Europe as Chinese EV rival BYD's tripleEnglish
21·5 months agoAnd companies like Uber, Amazon etc. are heavily disliked by a lot of people because of it. This tactic forces smaller companies into bankruptcy and is bad for the consumer in the long run.
So yeah, it is absolutely not good either if China props up their whole EV industry to establish a monopoly. I hope governments around the world are pushing back as much as possible to keep their local car manufacturers alive, their economies will profit from it.
Not supporting this doesn’t mean that you don’t understand modern economics, on the contrary I would argue.

21·5 months agoSo you’re saying Trumps decisions are exactly the ones of a saboteur, but you don’t believe he is one, because he is incompetent?
How “competent” do you have to be to be able to do, what someone tells you to do?

Yeah
If he didn’t change it after his 8 year old yt video his instructions are definitely different:
- no stirring directly after pouring
- wait for 4 minutes
- then stir
- wait for at least(!) 5 minutes
Did you watch his video or follow a written instruction? I noticed you can’t rely on those anymore… My guess is AI slop, that gets it ever so slightly wrong each time, always go straight to the source nowadays.

News@lemmy.world•Amid its worst ever crisis, Tesla offers discounts on its best-selling car just weeks after new Model Y launch
12·9 months agoPrices in China:
BYD Atto 3: 16k USD.
BYD Seal: 25k USD.
Tesla 3: 32k USD.Prices in Germany:
BYD Atto 3: 33k USD.
BYD Seal: 45k USD.
Tesla 3: 46k USD.Comparing prices like you do just looks like bad faith. And I’m not saying this to support Tesla but to highlight that there is some serious BYD shilling going on here.
You want Tesla to compete? I guess the US already has prison slave labour and reduced safety measures for Teslas, it’s just missing some billions of US tax money flowing in and you got what you wished for.
Not a good idea? But China doing exactly that is OK, because US bad equals China good?
Maybe putting tariffs on chinese imported EVs (like the EU does) is the reasonable thing to do to protect your own industry and jobs.

Weird thing is that it ran way better at the beginning and then got worse, now even the menu is laggy.

6·1 year agoThat doesn’t make much sense, since Baja California was named California before the US-State which even belonged to Mexico back in the days.
If anything Trump is going to change California to Ivankia or Putinstan, but I guess at that point California will rather rejoin Mexico.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which default software do you replace after you install your distro?
131·1 year agoI doubt you’re getting downvoted for saying that chrome is faster than firefox, but for the irony of using Linux with a Chromium based browser, while being on lemmy.
-
Chromium, while open source, is controlled by Google and a lot of browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Samsung Android, Vivaldi) are built on it, giving it a market share of around 75%.
-
Electron apps are frameworks based on Chromium (ie VSCode).
-
Google is evil and with Manifest V3, Adblockers like uBlock Origin, will eventually stop working for all derivatives (even for Vivaldi).
-
The future: Because Chromium got the de facto monopoly there is no need for Firefox support anymore and the big corpos (ie Microsoft is a sucker for Chromium/Electron) can turn what’s left of the “old” Internet into apps without the ability to block ads or tracking.
-
No “?”, just Profit.
-
It’s good for your mental health, but bad for lemmy in general. Those people need to be called out on their shit, downvoted and banned if necessary.
Compare it to those scam emails that are written in bad english to weed out the people too intelligent to fall for it.
They prefer you banning them, so they can influence the people listening more easily.
