News@lemmy.world•Florida man sentenced to 1 year in federal prison for trying to run over 6 Black men
27·3 years agoFine with me if the victim wants to express forgiveness in a personal or spiritual sense but that should be irrelevant to the criminal case. There should be consequences when a Judge / court fails its duty to serve justice and protect the broader community.
My experience has been that LibreOffice will not correctly render my .csv files when they are above a certain size. Not talking about big data here either like a few thousand rows. For this reason I use OnlyOffice instead.
What do you want to self host? To learn or experiment buy a cheap old x86 box. I get mine at goodwill auction. Otherwise desktop is good if you want something that needs more compute and that you’d spin up as needed vs always on.
Firefox for personal. I like Edge for work stuff.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•People bitching about Lemmy.world blocking piracy instances sound like spoiled teenagers with no consideration of consequences
328·3 years agoI’m glad the LW admins have the foresight to consider things like this and other areas of concern. It’s good to see LW admin admit when they don’t know enough about something and are being cautious. I don’t think Discord should be the place for any announcements though. Hopefully LW can get the legal protections or assurances necessary to host all of the content people want to see.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People who keep journals or diaries, do you hand write or type?
6·3 years agoWriting by hand with a pen you like on nice quality paper can be enjoyable. The best for me is when I journal on my typewriter.
I am happy with Proton.
Learn Linux TV
I was also asked this question at 15 while being interviewed by the local Sears. I went on to sell shoes though. Cordless phones would have been cool.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is there really no viable alternative for Photoshop on Linux?English
1·3 years agoI wish I could get over the learning curve with GIMP but tbh my current workflow involves a windows 10 virtual machine for Photoshop. It works for my needs without GPU pass through.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Thunderbird 115 - odd lack of packaged options beginning to raise eyebrows?English
3·3 years agoI’m using Evolution as I prefer their interface. I’m curious to give the new Thunderbird a try when there’s a flatpak.
Interesting. I had no idea.
Yeah, idk… I went to their website and the fries are not flagged for peanut allergy yet it also says “cooked in 100% peanut oil” so that does not inspire confidence lmao
That’s good to know, thanks. I’ve never been to a Five Guys and I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some love it/some hate it. I hear they’re expensive? I will try them for safe GF.
I like In-N-Out’s food okay. What I really like is their simple menu. It’s the only fast food my family eats because they can do gluten free safely. The owners are definitely conservative and christian (and weirdly so imo) but those freaks know how to run a well-functioning restaurant. The mask ban is obviously stupid but I won’t boycott over it. Sucks for the workers, but also In-N-Out pays better and appears to treat their staff much better than your typical fast food joint. I’d hate to see those jobs shifted over to something like another McDonald’s, for example.
