I’m a web dev and one “hack” I use all the time is bookmarklets. In Chrome @bookmarks let’s you search your bookmarks, so I use this to fire off different scripts to do different things. Most are for debugging and the like. I have my hotkeys setup where ctrl + q puts focus on the omnibar so I can start typing, and then I use @books marks to search for whatever I need. A lot of the bookmarklets just append the current url to some other site like page speed insights or pure.md. I find this saves me a ton of time. Also the duplicate this tab hotkey, I use that all day every day.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What single item improved the quality of your life over you got it? (Buyed it/got as present/made it)
1·3 years agoLucky! When looking into it I’d read that for some people it does have a prolonged effect while for others it doesn’t.

1·3 years agoAs I understand it melatonin doesn’t necessarily help you to stay asleep, so I found it to be a game changer when I switched to a time release melatonin. Now if I wake in he middle of the night I find it much easier to fall back asleep.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What free websites/applications do you recommend for mild convenience?English
1·3 years agoI suggest Archive.ph over 12ft ladder these days.
Oh is that not a thing anymore? I wonder why they even bothered to change it?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•given how little one vote matter, it seems to me that stripping felons of their right to vote is both petty and counterproductive if the point was to reform them into civic minded individuals ?English
1·3 years agoOh don’t get me wrong, I believe recidivism is a real problem and that my brother got on the straight and narrow perhaps just as much inspite of his 4 years in prison as because of.
I went from an Ender 3 to the X1-C and be never been happier with not cheaping out!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a website everyone should know about?English
2·3 years agoI’ll also come in just to mention the android app “TryCamel”. Being able to conveniently add things when on mobile was a game changer for me.
Even 1/100th would be quite a lot!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I feel sorry for men who have to wear pants
13·3 years agoThey look comfy as hell when it’s hot out. I don’t think I could swing wearing a dress in the office, but I bet they’d let me wear a kilt…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would Twitter look like with an absolute number of Likes in the system?
1·3 years agoI would predict even more botting would be used to influence likes/dislikes as limiting them would make them even more influential.
I’d also bet on their being even more useless comments saying expressing people’s like or dislike of something, which might be good for engagement numbers but bad for overall conversation.
I really enjoyed the book “Einstein’s Dreams”. I similarly don’t understand the physics, but find some of the concepts so engaging.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the hottest and coldest temperature you've ever been in?English
3·3 years agoThe hottest I’ve been in was 117°F (47.2°C) when I lived in Las Vegas. Was actually slated for a 10 mile run that day, but it was mercifully cut down to 4 miles.
Coldest without windchill would be -35°F (-37°C), just a couple of winters ago. I’m surprised it’s not lower, not too far from here a city set the state record at -60°F (-51°C) not too long ago.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think there will be a future where your phone can automatically detect if you are trying to record police activity and disables your camera? What do you think the odds of this happening is?English
2·3 years agoThey will absolutely use this as a way to grub for money. It’s early, so I can’t think of how exactly they would spin this as a public safety need, but I’m sure there is a way they will twist it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?
5·3 years agoI do this when doing yard work. Can feel great to have a little cool down, and really keeps them off me when doing anything stationary. Hell, I’ve even rigged up a little one that clamps on to my lawn tractor to blow at me while driving.
A breeze is nice, but no mosquitoes is fuckin’ gold!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People around the world, do you drink tap water without boiling?English
2·3 years agoI’m your southern neighbor in the stateside great lakes region. The tap water is delicious and completely safe. When you buy a house here they test the tap water to make sure it’s safe.

Jeez, I’m hardly in that much for my whole tankless + install
