News@lemmy.world•White Dad Apologized to the Black Superintendent He Pushed On Stage, But It Didn't Go As He Expected
111·2 years agoThere’s an update to the news article that gives more info on the motive: https://www.theroot.com/watch-white-father-pulls-a-karen-with-black-superinten-1851522863
The father and superintendent apparently had previous problems and the father planned to interfere in the graduation ceremony. I’m still not convinced it wasn’t racially motivated, but regardless the man needs help.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why several big-box stores have ditched their self-checkouts | CBC NewsEnglish
31·3 years agoI stopped shopping at Cub specifically because the self-checkout registers were just like the ones described above. The cashier lanes weren’t any better because I still had to do all the work except scanning anyway.
Cub is the most convenient location for me by about 5 miles, but I refuse to go there because the service is so very bad.
What makes you say it’s abandoned? The last release was about a month ago.

363·3 years agoEVs work fine in cold weather. I live in Minnesota and drive an EV. It loses about 10-20% of the total range in the winter, but most of that appears to be from generating heat for the passengers.

This site walks you through how to take a DNA test anonymously. That’s as close as I’m aware of that you can get to privacy.
