For context: AfD is the most popular party today in Germany. Their leader Alice weidel publicly praises the time of her grandfather while her grandfather was a member of NAZI party. Another high ranking member of AfD was recently caught doing a zeig heil in front of parliment building. In early 2023, they were caught attending a neo-nazi meetup.

And despite all that, they are today number 1 in polls. This doesn’t look very “reflecting on past mistakes” tbh.

Its memory we are talking about, literally everyone in the world already uses it. Its not like crypto or other tech that might become obsolete any time soon.

The profit margins might shrink but there will be emough uses for it for sure. Think of personal clouds, archives, maybe cheaper gpus etc etc.

Maybe we will discover/implement algorithms that exploit memory trade offs once it becomes cheap.

Something happened recentlyish… there was a time when india and US hegemony were politically aligned then russian war happened and India having far far deeper connection with russia, decided to show their loyalty to them.

Reactionary in politics often means going “back to the good old days”. Stuff like back in feudal/monarchy people used to have honor, courage, and respect. We didn’t used to exploit nature. People were more happy etc. etc.

But it is though… AI was started long before computers were made.

AI at its core means “intelligent behaviour exhibited by non-natural/Artificial means”. This means that if your OS “intelligently” switches tasks on physical threads on cpu that’s AI. If you go to supermarket and the door opens when you go near it, that’s AI as well (actually this example was in our intro to AI textbook).

So computers are a special case of AI, so are calculators.

Machine intelligence and aritificial intelligence are the same thing. AI just changed its meaning too much i guess. What was AI few years ago, is now machine intelligence.
