Games@lemmy.world•The Last Truly Custom Nintendo: A 3DS RetrospectiveEnglish
1·1 month agoIf it was actually pocketable I would have bought a second switch for on the go. But it’s not small enough for that, and it drops functionality from the slightly larger model. If either changed I think it would have sold better.

2·1 month agoI think not being dockable killed it for most people, that and it not being a pocket system. I think if either of those changes the for the better it would sell well. If it doesn’t fit in my pocket I might as well get the big one that docks so I can play on the TV when I’m in the mood.

Games@lemmy.world•The Last Truly Custom Nintendo: A 3DS RetrospectiveEnglish
11·1 month agoI have a feeling that a Switch 2 Lite is on the horizon, Nintendo loves a console variant. Not that the S1 lite is pocketable, but maybe they will shrink it more this time. I went down a somewhat similar path, only for me it was GBA and emulation on my Steam Deck that really made me realize I missed having pocket games that are real games and not mobile bullshit. I modded my old GBA with a modern screen and battery and it’s been my goto device for portable games. The OG DS dropped as I was graduating highschool and going into college, and the 3DS completely passed me by. I keep thinking about getting a used one but their prices are still a little high for me.

10·2 months agoI actually have it on gog, but I’ve had a few issues running it on Linux. I haven’t tried it a while, and I didn’t troubleshoot much at all. I should give it another try.

Ravens are pretty big birds. I don’t think that’s a hatchling but it sure isn’t anywhere near an adult.

2·2 months agoOk, fair point about it being in Snow Crash. I can forgive it a little bit now. I still don’t love the name, and I think we should come up with something better for the eventual fediverse version of the same idea.

3·2 months agoLet’s stop giving meta credit. Metaverse is a shit name anyway. Cyberspace is cooler and it’s still not that cool.
Sometimes I put peanuts on top of my peanut butter toast.
I can totally understand that, it’s not cheap to drive a car. I really don’t consider myself a ‘car guy’ but I do like to go for a drive. I like to go around corners fast, I like to find an empty country road and see where it ends. I don’t think working on cars is fun, most of the time. But I do most of the work on my vehicles to save money, rarely do I add anything aftermarket.
Do you like to drive?

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•If nothing else, I will say it's been a long road...
5·2 months agoAs a Gundam fan in the west, you really have to turn to the pirates. Part of me wishes Sunrise/Bandai would get their shit together and get it all available, but as somebody who has followed the series since the late 90s it’s kind of always been this way. You can buy the Blu Rays if that’s your thing, but you can also find everything in great quality from multiple sites.

6·2 months agoYou can watch a large chunk of UC with dubs. ZZ isn’t dubbed, and a few of the newest ones aren’t dubbed yet, but otherwise it’s probably one of the more accessible anime to get into. If you’ve only seen highlights I would say it’s a good time to just start episode 1 of 0079 and roll it. It’s not like every episode is amazing, but it’s fun and cool to see where the story begins.

6·2 months agoWhen I say Gundam I mean UC. Some of the other shows are entertaining, but they don’t feel like real Gundam to me. UC has hard sci-fi elements, political, space and mech battles. It’s a mix that hits pretty hard for me. Most of the non-UC shows are either goofy, or not ‘real robots’, or set mostly on earth.

Yeah. If there is any stagnation it’s only for the USA because we chased all our physicists out by repeatedly canceling shit they care about. Why work for a failing military industrial complex when you could work with the LHC? And that happened long before Biden took office.

I recently tried it again on arch and had serious steam issues, any tips?
