Interdental brushes are the way! No more gum issues since I started, and one habit I’m proud I developed. I had an xray where they showed how much the bacteria had eaten away at my roots - scared straight.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most toxic mentality that people have nowadays?
51·2 months agoI’d been noticing lately how IG e.g. (or whatever, echo chamber/filter bubble) was feeding me a lot of man-child hate, and at some point felt it was getting to me a bit too much. Made me intolerant towards strangers and less likely to give someone at least a chance, which is how I normally am. And I know incel culture quite well too, so it seems like a really toxic, alienating combo. Not because we are supposed to just get married and breed and shut up for the greater GDP, but just for basic human trust and empathy.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Celebrity death that’s affected you the most ?
38·2 months agoDavid Bowie. I really mourned him, didn’t expect to feel so strongly about someone I never met. Feel like the world got significantly duller and darker since he took off.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you ever smoked opium? What's it like?
8·2 months agoWay back when I had a phase of a few months where it was all I would do in my spare time, and was increasingly making spare time to lay in bed and smoke. It just made everything nice, soft and floaty - including living in a crappy flat with a crazy and annoying flatmate (who supplied, and became less annoying after a few hits) and their dog. Luckily they moved out and I had no other source, 'cause I think that could’ve well been the end of my life/progress. I understood the nastiness of the Opium Wars at that point.
Morphine I think is a lot stronger? Only tried a tab once from a friend, who later OD’d (RIP). I had to keep getting up to go throw up but everything was fucking perfect. Like a mind-blowingly pleasant physical feeling.
Yeah opioids are dangerous, best to avoid.
Apologies!!
Going to Italy to use an LLM to find pasta Alfredo is… well, there’s your use case. Pure and unfettered ignorance. I will take my down votes now, thank you. I don’t care. Ugh. Just ugh.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your funniest case of misheard song lyrics?
3·4 months agoMichael wants to party all the time - with Eddie Murphy. Thought it was his ode to trans dating.
Poor people drink beer because they’re depressed. Of course no one tells them that beer makes them depressed. Vague memory of a Vonnegut quote. (a serious beer drinker)
Absolutely Fabulous is one show where she really does the body comedy, check it out!

World News@lemmy.world•Jeffrey Epstein Was Vladimir Putin's Wealth Manager, FBI Source Claimed in Newly Released Epstein FilesEnglish
0·4 months agoNo not Putin, or Epstein, but the whole cohort of biznesmeni/bandity behind the scenes who took over in the 90s, sponsored by the US and the rest of the “Washington consensus” scheme. Joining the lizards. Same class of creeps worldwide, is what I’m saying. Giving them and their secret services (CIA, Mossad, KGB/FSB) any kind of special status/perversion/allure per country lines, I think, is an unproductive distraction, and it ends up feeding xenophobia, Russophobia, and in Israel’s case, *gasp" antisemitism. Sorry it’s a bit of a thought in process but yeah.

World News@lemmy.world•Jeffrey Epstein Was Vladimir Putin's Wealth Manager, FBI Source Claimed in Newly Released Epstein FilesEnglish
1·4 months agoThey’re just all the same class of assholes. I was explained by one dude years ago that they all went to the same “business” schools and are all very much on the same line. They were educated and socialized together, so of course they have their little clubs of horror eveywhere.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What exactly are composers doing when they wave around that tiny stick
1·5 months agoHaha as a child of musicians - you are so right about the egos. Great writing too. I still think/dream that an anarchist orchestra could work, with appropriate rethinking of the whole musical career climb crap… Someday, maybe, people will play for joy, and just to share that joy with each other and with others. No doucherie needed or encouraged.

2·5 months agoI do wonder why just one person though - couldn’t it be more distributed to avoid all the ego bullshit conductors seem to almost inavoidably suffer from?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the hardest addiction you've tried to break or are trying to break?
1·7 months agohaha damn looks like I’m about to read just that part tonight, what a coincidence. skipping to not get it spoilered. but then again the whole book is just one long rant against the struggle, in the end. glad i finally got through it though - only took ten years

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What show is weirdly or oddly cozy for you?
8·7 months agoProbably not weird but an episode or two of MAS*H will always make me feel better
That we will continue to exploit other humans for material comfort, and justify it with more or less overt racism - black and brown lives just can’t matter, otherwise we’d have to give up our privilege and things. Make their countries unlivable and let them drown trying to get out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Where would you live if money and/or visa requirements weren't an issue?
2·8 months agoThat probably helps a lot. I hoped to get “in” with the small alternative crowd but the language got in the way, I guess. I do still think they suffer from the same Swiss syndrome of just not being very open to newcomers. And they all go to bed at midnight haha.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Where would you live if money and/or visa requirements weren't an issue?
3·8 months agoHaha why specifically Fribourg? I was there a whiles, it’s cute and livable I suppose, but got dull very fast.

Mine are pretty damn tight too but with the thinnest brush eventually it worked, and felt less and less disturbing. It’s the gap by the gums you need to reach, not between the teeth themselves. For that I floss. I try to alternate the two, but it’s really more about the gum area.
