Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If someone ate a full box of high iron cereal before an mri would they get injured?English
3·22 days agoI mean, surely not, but I’ve seen videos of people blending up cereal and using a magnet to pull out the iron. I’m really curious now

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What actually happens in a DDOS attack?English
3·1 month agoAh, I see, like the diseases in Mr Burns’ body
Hear me out, pretzel sticks, cream cheese, and dried cranberries. There’s something that happens with the fat in the cream cheese, the salt on the pretzels, and the sweet and acidity of the cranberries that make it delicious

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We could build a solar laser with a ton of mirrorsEnglish
1·1 month agoThe world should all agree that laser needs to be spelled with a Z. Lasers are cool, Zs are cool. It’s a s simple as that. The world could use this sort of unifying cause

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think you would survive if you received every injury of your life at once?English
10·1 month agoI think I would survive. The worst injuries I’ve had were cuts in my fingers and muscle tears.
I shudder to think what every stubbed toe I’ve ever had happening at once would feel like

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to cool my body enough to not sweat while exercising?English
2·1 month agoJust wondering, are you on an SSRI? They make you sweat way more than you would normally, especially your head

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•We are all the same, y'all stop it.English
21·2 months agoI work cleaning and examining aluminum parts. To clean them we use a grit blaster with plastic beads. Most other grit would be too hard to use on aluminum. As such, I regularly breath plastic dust. I embrace my fate. I am a child of the petroleum byproduct. I am a child of the modern era, an unholy chimera of meat and polymer.

6·3 months agoThey absolutely don’t. I’m just wondering why it works out financially for Marvel and Mission Impossible movies but not for games

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•"Triple-A is in crisis" and games "don't have staying power because they're bad," says ex Gears of War director and Painkiller creatorEnglish
9·3 months agoI’m curious though, viewing movies as investments has made a some studios filthy rich. Why does that seem to be different for games?
Merry Christmas and I hope you had a joyous Saturnalia
I don’t know if it’s still available, but you used to be able to download many Orson Welles radio dramas as podcasts. It was great entertainment when I worked for a moving company driving hours ever day
Edit: It was called Relic Radio. The last upload was 2023. Iirc the shows had a wide variety of audio quality
glups@piefed.socialOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•I stuck my camera up the ass end of an ICBMEnglish
4·3 months agoThat would be where I took this. Great museum. They reeealllly try to hammer home the merits of Mutually Assured Destruction though. It makes sense though, most of the staff there are retired air force who served under SAC
glups@piefed.socialOPtoPhotography@lemmy.world•I stuck my camera up the ass end of an ICBMEnglish
23·3 months agoThis is the injector plate for a liquid fueled Titan II. They went out of service in the 80s iirc. Modern ICBMs use solid fuel, which are much different

Part of my job involves inspecting aircraft life vests. The CO2 cartridges and vests are reused as long as they meet the required pressure/weight. Occasionally I’ll get a CO2 cartridge made in West Germany that still meets the required weight
