1·13 days agoThis was always my problem with the “2a saves us from tyranny” people. Hypothetically, if I’m driving my car and I get boxed by armed masked men, I’m letting some rounds off. Legally, you don’t know who these people are and they don’t have any right to detain you, to search you without a warrant, you fear for your life, etc.
But Realistically, I end up dead. My family probably gets hunted down. It’s similar to state sponsored rights violations and owning a firearm doesnt do shit.

17·2 months agoIf only there was a system of government where the people could make decisions. Ahh, that would be too cumbersome when the number of people got to big, so maybe there could be a smaller group of people who are chosen to best represent those people’s choices. Ahh, but once again that would leave idiots who could be swayed too easily making choices based on populism. Maybe if we added another smaller group of people to check that group to make sure the peoples will was not misguided.

91·2 months agoWithout knowing any details on the movie other than “Christopher Nolans next movie is The Odyssey” and that appearing early in the trailer, I thought, Oh ok, cool, kinda doing something visually here, not historically accurate but an artistic adaptation like the 300 or something. Then the rest of the trailer is just, nope, normal Greece. So out of place.

I agree with you and would say the same thing to my Trump supporting colleagues about Bernie in particular, circa 2016:
“I get it you hate socialism, and Bernie is going to turn us into Venezuela or whatever, but do you really believe that is his intent? Or do you believe, as wrong as he may be, that he thinks he’s doing the right thing and trying to help people.”
Most would always agree, that although he is wrong and a communist fascist socialist dope, he is earnest.
But back to the paradoxical supporters of Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders, I think the genuineness is a big draw, but the politics are not completely incompatible… they both agreed on one big thing in different ways… Ron Paul wanted to audit the Fed, Bernie wanted to tax billionaires. They both were going after the masters of the universe pockets.
