Looks like dude in the orange saw dude proposing and often times proposals come with a fancy expensive ring. Clearly an easy mark. As the orange guy walks up, you can see him pull mace out of his pocket which he then sprays in dudes face at a close range. However, instead of being incapacitated, proposal dude clearly has a strong paradoxical reaction to the mace and becomes the pure embodiment of rage in physical form. This proves to be problematic to the man in orange.

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Designed and printed an air assist nozzle for my laser cutter.English
3·2 years agoOh yeah that’s a pretty solid benefit right there. I swear the oddest things will block them from cutting. I didn’t even consider the smoke diffusing the beam.
Like the most powerful laser I’ve used won’t cut through a paper sticker or even the residue but it’ll cut through .75" steel like it’s nothing.
The optics is a big deal too. On the big ones everything is pretty reasonably sized and they’re still a pain to clean. I can’t imagine what it’s like with those tiny ones. Also, those larger lasers lenses are really commonly coated in thorium and a speck gets on there it’s going to superheat and vaporize a lot of the lense. Pretty damn dangerous to be around lol!

4·2 years agoCNC laser operator here.
I don’t know about these lower power lasers so I may be wrong. With the lasers I’ve used (200-2000W), the air/oxygen is used to create a superheated jacket of gas around the laser which allows it to cut a nice smooth edge. It also has the added benefit of blowing away the slag/dross that’s created.
When we cut more temperature sensitive materials like aluminum and stainless we use nitrogen, which cools the material. This creates a pretty jagged deal with the dross that you gotta sand off but it prevents blowouts and really creates a nice edge if you get the pressure dialed in just right.
I bet it’s a guitar and a pet canary!
I just realized…
I would kill for some good bulgogi right now.
Theres a chain of all you can eat kinda fusion sushi bars around where I live. Trapper’s Sushi. Actually ate there today. I swear their best rolls are flash fried and smothered in various sauces or scallops with spicy mayo.
If you’re a sushi purist you’ll consider it a complete abomination but oh my sweet lord it’s sooo good.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What are these things? I always see them in the sky
91·3 years agoMy brother has this completely redpilled friend. He’s taken college level classes on aerodynamics and aerospace manufacturing (so have I). He’s always pointing out the contrails and saying something about mind control or Bill Gates…
I always sarcastically ask him about what other medium would he expect them to be projecting the sky on. Gets him to shut up real quick. For an hour or so… They really aren’t that bright.
I thought the same when I got it. I ordered it online and when it arrived I was kinda surprised… But I’ve gotten through a little bit more than 3/4 of it in about a week so I guess I like it lol!
Right now I’m reading Leviathan Wakes and I cannot put it down. It’s such a good book!
At work I’m listening to The Digital Plague and it’s pretty darn good. Book 2 of the Avery Cates series which is in the dark, gritty cyberpunk genre with a good amount of dark humor.
Both are really good books!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some small, pocketable/keychainable items that are worth carrying everywhere you go?
4·3 years agoMy tiny flashlight will light up my whole yard and then some like it’s day. I do admit that’s a little bit excessive but it’s great for when I hear something out there at night. I don’t exactly live in the best neighborhood… Makes clearing the property a hell of a lot easier and when that things pointed right at you, you can’t see shit.
Even on the lower settings though it’s far better and faster than using your phone. Also I guess it’s a little bit more specific to my needs because I am a machinist, it’s a lot easier for me to just pull out a flashlight than to strain my eyes trying to see something.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some small, pocketable/keychainable items that are worth carrying everywhere you go?
25·3 years agoA tiny keychain tape measure. It’s one of those things you have no idea how much you’ll use until you have one on you all the time.
Looking at something online? How big exactly is it? It says 16.5" but can you picture that in your head somewhat accurately? It’s just easier to pull out your tape measure and see.
I’ve also started carrying around a small flashlight everywhere I go. I have an Imalent LD70 Mini. It’s small enough to fit in my change pocket and it’ll put out a blinding ~4000 lumens on turbo (for about a minute before it gets too hot). I do admit that it’s not the best flashlight ever. It has a ridiculous magnetic proprietary charger that will short on whatever if you leave it plugged in but it does what I need it to do.
I call it the devil beating his wife if that helps.

World News@lemmy.world•Archaeologists are too scared to open the tomb of China's first emperor because they fear booby trapsEnglish
261·3 years agoAlright so how about we build an air tight enclosure around a small part of the door, just big enough to get, say, a small drone through. A mechanical part of this enclosure would be saws or something to breech the door. Would probably want to draw a vacuum in the enclosure first just in case… maybe the enclosure could act as an airlock so researchers could access the drone for charging, upgrading, repairs, and whatnot?
I heard of this tomb when I was really young and ever since I’ve kinda used it as an engineering exercise in my head. Sometimes I draw things out for myself but this is the first time I’ve ever told anyone about it lol

Cars - For Car Enthusiasts@lemmy.world•[Canada] Which vehicle to get to replace Jeep Patriot?English
1·3 years agoI should clarify. The head gaskets generally tend to leak oil out of the side of the engine. Not the traditional burning coolant and oil or loosing compression.

Cars - For Car Enthusiasts@lemmy.world•[Canada] Which vehicle to get to replace Jeep Patriot?English
1·3 years agoAs a person who’s been a mechanic for half of his life, I totally don’t get the Subaru hype. Their heads are so small the head gasket doesn’t get enough room to actually make a seal. I’ve seen Subarus with as little as 13k miles on them with bad head gaskets. Leaking oil all over the place.
Granted they do make it easier to replace them but that’s still a couple thousand dollars every 10-25k miles.

Dude in the orange attempted to rob them with mace. As he walks up you can see him grab something out of his pocket then put it in dudes face. Later you can see him spraying it at dude but he’s standing too far away.
Cheap/spent mace for sure.
