America has a long-standing policy of using our military and various alphabet soup agencies to effectively subjugate foreign countries in the name of profit (for the already very wealthy ofc). We also have a longstanding policy of using our effective military and economic control over most of the world as a bludgeon to force other countries to play along.
Political Neutrality doesn’t get you an empire.

Its hard to say what the most popular are.
Star Wars is sorta explicitly not psionics, the force is an outside thing that force users can tap into.
Mass effect has psionics, but psionics in general play a really minor role, some psionic characters play big roles, but them being psionic is meh.
Warhammer 40K might be the most popular franchise where psionics plays a major role. Every major faction except the Necrons are defined/driven by their psionics.
Star Trek has some psionics, but those are generally minor plot points, not major ones.
Dune has the Atreides be psionic, the Bene-Gesserit are arguably psionic, as are the navigators.
Akira is all about psionics, and is arguably Sci-Fi, if a grittier, closer to current reality one.

2 or 3 reasons that Banks give out VP titles like candy.
Some regulation after Bush’s recession tried to tie shady shit at banks to VPs, at the time, that would have tied the shady practices to the actual people doing them. Since the actual people in charge wanted to have scapegoats, they just gave the title to everyone.
It makes people feel important, if they can call the bank and get a VP on the line, it makes them feel heard if they can complain to a VP etc.
Its another form of wage reduction, basically they give people the VP title so the people with the title feel like they are going somewhere, but they don’t actually give out raises to go with. It lets them keep people around for a bit longer without giving them any more money.
The last one has kind of stopped working since everybody knows what’s going on, and once you have 5 VPs at one branch, becoming a VP becomes a lot less important, but its part of why the title became so widespread.
The narrative could be worse, but a “factual” headline can very much be used to drive a fake narrative.
In this case, the headline (while factual) is guiding the reader to think that somebody high up at Bank of America (not some random branch manager) was stabbed because she was a wealthy banker.
Its then pushing the idea that violence against wealthy bankers is terrible because they could be a mother.
Everything about the headline is driving a really bad narrative.
Look, I get that people hate bankers.
But as far as I can tell, everything about this is just media pushing a really dumb narrative.
The lady who stabbed her was not targeting bankers, it was just a crazy person with a knife.
Banks give out VP titles to fucking everybody, this is the rough equivalent of stabbing a General Manager at Costco.
