Yooo that last one sounds amazing. Right up my alley.

I am not, but I appreciated Brian David Gilbert’s video on this! What recipes have you made lately?

Food and Cooking@beehaw.org•Edible Insects: In Europe, a Growing Push for Bug-Based Food
9·3 years agoI have found that practical solutions are rarely all or nothing, personally.
Are you against eating meat from a consequentialist perspective, or a deontological one? In my opinion, less meat eaten is better - better for the environment, and less money going into cruel practices around slaughtering animals, etc - even if the reasons for it are varied and not strictly from a standard of moral duty.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Does BioWare now regret erasing their community forums?
0·3 years agoI don’t have much of an opinion on the bioware forums, but man - it’s crazy to think about this period as the collapse of web2. I mean, I’m aware of it, but somehow, giving it that title seems so real.
The online spaces I’ve spent most of my time in are collapsing, and all that’ll be left is the shambling, soulless husks of bankrupt cryptocurrencies. I guess we can just go ahead and skip straight to web4?

Creative@beehaw.org•Reminder to plan out your finished product sizes thoroughly. My WIP Mareep has gotten wildly out of hand. She will be the master of this home.
4·3 years agoOmg. I’m so excited to see the finished product. How big will be this mareep end up being?

Creative@beehaw.org•Knit animation. 80 drawn portraits 40 knit frames. 30 feet of knitting!
2·3 years agoI am truly floored by this. I think all of us animators are masochists to an extent, but you must be on another level. Great work.

Creative@beehaw.org•WIP Wednesday! What are you working on? [Week of Jun 21st]English
2·3 years agoAwesome! Would love to see updates on this one as you move progress!
Oh wow! Impressive that you did this on the fly!
I feel you on wanting to make things straight from your head, it feels closer to art as a mode of creative self expression.
I have found though, that visual planning and collecting references (even if it’s just like, the color of light from one painting, the texture of an ancient piece of pottery, etc. ) actually gives you more opportunities to be creative and helps build a visual library in your mind that you can draw from in the future. It is a lot of work, though, and feels like it slows you down at first.
Maybe you can try it and see if you like it?
Super rad! I have a soft spot in my heart for colorless sketches exploring character designs like this.
Personality comes through well, and the head silhouette is awesome.

Creative@beehaw.org•last night in LA, ink plus digital watercolor, by me (OC)
1·3 years agoBeautiful! The highlights in the metal and the precision of your color really show off your talent.
So, what happened last night in LA? 😄
Great job!
I like the volumetric lighting (at least, I think that’s what it is?) I feel like it was always tricky to get right - at least, when I was working in Maya back in the day.
I do feel like the blue light is a little bit aggressive, and wonder if there’d be value in adding some more saturated colored lights to give some depth? Depends on the concept art, obviously. I’m curious - do you mind posting the reference you’re working off?

Thank you for being upfront and honest about the challenges you’re facing. I’d like to also put my vote in for going whitelist only rather than moving off the fediverse altogether. However, I’m a big fan of beehaw and would likely follow a migration, but only if there’s a good mobile experience on the new site.
