RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Which is better: F-Zero or Super Mario Kart (SNES)?English
4·1 year agoF-Zero, despite the outdated hardware I still find it fun. Controls aren’t bad and I like most tracks. Super Mario Kart on the other hand feels outdated in terms of controls and track design.
We used Matlab in 3rd year of high school. Teachers sent us link to download pirated version. I installed GNU Octave.
I mean basic programming in general, as basic as it gets. It’s not guaranteed that every student has programming experience.
Redragon Saaturn G807, didn’t have any issue with it so far and it wasn’t expensive.

8·1 year agoI think old one is better but I’m using resource pack anyway so I don’t relly care.
Linux is amazing for games thar don’t have anti-cheat and I don’t play those games. Saying that Linux gaming isn’t ready is just stupid at this point. And for emulation it might be better than Windows.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Here's why modern gaming suuuuucks.English
5·2 years agoYour experience from 80s is similar to my experience now with Switch games (it’s not the same only because I’m not a kid). Download times do suck but I have a really simple solution for them: I simply do something else until it’s finished. And there are great games that don’t take much space space on your storage, Balatro is first one that comes to mind.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Prove youre an OG, State your distro couz
12·2 years agoRecently switched to NixOS.
My current install is around 1 year old.
Problems I had were because of software not being on the latest version, not updates. Things just work on Arch for me. Only thing that ever broke was Xorg because of Nvidia drivers but that’s pretty easy fix.
Arch based distros are pretty stable in my experience. I actually had much more problems on distros like Debian and PopOs than Arch.
I use EndeavourOS (which is almost the same as Arch) for gaming and it works great.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•How to Install and Play Epic Games on a Steam DeckEnglish
8·2 years agoYou can use Heroic game launcher for Epic games and few other launchers. There is no way to use official launcher as far as I know.
You can do .net on Linux but Windows is much better for that. I recommend using Windows for work and Linux for everything else.

I love “The gods themselves”. Themes it explores are interesting and sci-fi parts are really clever and unique.
