Magic may be an overstatement. I would be shocked if any of them fixed even 0.1% of the problems posted to Microsoft’s joke of a support forum where they were presented as solutions.

Technology@lemmy.world•Cisco to lay off more than 4,000 employees to focus on artificial intelligenceEnglish
2·2 years agoI’m not even sure how it’s configured. I added the license, added the app to Teams, and asked it to summarize a meeting that I knew had been recorded. When it couldn’t find the meeting, I asked it for a list of meetings that I had on that day. It responded with a partial list, not including the correct meeting. The correct meeting was visible in both the Outlook and Teams calendars.

Technology@lemmy.world•Cisco to lay off more than 4,000 employees to focus on artificial intelligenceEnglish
7·2 years agoI paid the $30 today for their 365 Pilot and asked it to summarize a meeting for me that was recorded and it couldn’t even find the meeting.
But hey, I’m sure Cisco will do a better job. Everybody I know keeps asking about Cisco’s AI. Maybe it will finally give a good answer as to why I should pay a subscription to own an access point.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats something that is only worth getting the expensive version of?
17·2 years agoI understand the importance of getting a good mattress, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out whether a mattress actually is any good, expensive or not, without sleeping on it for a while. The whole industry feels like a giant scam.
Did this motherfucker just respond by chiding someone else for not following “proper journalistic practices” after completely fucking burying a company without reaching out to them about their prototype product?

1216·3 years agoEh. I’m a lawyer. I wouldn’t be afraid of the civil risk unless I was accepting donations. Suing regular people isn’t really a profitable endeavor. I’m more concerned about paying for the hosting and being subscribed to enough of the fediverse to have a representative instance.

1·3 years agoSir, I’ll have you know that I had an IBM PS/2 Model 25 with 256 glorious colors in MCGA. And fuck every developer that didn’t support MCGA, because it dropped down to 4 color CGA if not. No support for EGA.

41·3 years agoIndeed, but it’s included with Office 365 and there’s a handy join button within Outlook that keeps me coming back for more.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
1·3 years agoInteresting. How many minutes on low, and quick release or natural?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
2·3 years agoHmm, okay, I’ll bite. What’s the secret with low pressure for long grain rice like basmati? I’ve been using 1:1 ratio rice:water for 6 minutes on high with a 10 minute natural release.
I didn’t make any friends in college. It was a strange place to learn that I was an introvert. Years later I went to law school and had a much better experience. There’s just something about suffering together that builds closer bonds.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there anything actually useful or novel about "AI"?
3·3 years agoAs a non-software engineer, it’s basically magic for programming. Can it handle your workload? Probably not based on your comment. I have, however, coaxed it to write several functional web applications and APIs. I’m sure you can do better, but it’s very empowering for someone that doesn’t have the same level of knowledge.

11·3 years agoI assume the cost was of Unix and not Linux.
It has been suggested by some that there is no relationship between Reiser murdering wives and ReiserFS murdering file systems, but most steer clear of both out of an abundance of caution.

2·3 years agoDoes anyone have a sense as to how the underlying hardware compares to Digital Ocean, Vultr, etc? I saw reference to fairly old Xeons, but I’m not sure if others in the same space are using similar hardware.

Linux@lemmy.ml•SUSE plan on forking RHEL and make a RHEL compatible distro available for everyone
3·3 years agoI really have no idea whether Suse is trustworthy here, but that kind of boilerplate seems common for publicly traded companies.

It’s almost impossible to win a defamation lawsuit as a public person. This is just being used as a flimsy shield before the election to try to give his denials some credibility. The standard is so high that unless someone at CNN was recorded as admitting to making this up then this case won’t make it very far.
