Technology@lemmy.world•5G network flaws could be abused to let hackers spy on your phoneEnglish
8·2 years ago4G had a lot of the same issues as 3G, but 5G was a complete redesign (including security). It was supposed to have been way harder to break than previous generations.
For the record, I mean the racists
“No, but this time it’s different!”, they all say…

182·2 years agoWell, if they won’t send him home, we should all just start calling the team “the Dutch Rapists”.
Maybe if enough people do it, they might find a conscience?

Isn’t that what I said?

News@lemmy.world•US government says TikTok poses threat to national security
211·2 years agoI know what you’re saying, and I agree that X is extremely problematic.
I think the difference is that X is owned by private individuals, whereas they’re saying here that TikTok is under the control of the Chinese state. I wonder if there are different rules at play for estate actors?

Canada@lemmy.ca•Postmedia enters agreement to buy SaltWire chain of newspapers
16·2 years agoThere’s something unsettling about PostMedia eating up all of these locals. They’ve shown that they’re interested in being Fox News for Canada; playing fast and loose with facts, and stoking fear and anger.
Yeah, I like that! 👍 Corporations don’t make decisions… Those people do
Not really something that is legal that should be illegal, but I would love to see this nonsense that corporate executives can’t be held criminally responsible (the corporation is) for their illegal acts. I think it would correct an awful lot of shitty things corporations do really quickly (assuming enforcement).

News@lemmy.world•Sandra Hemme freed after 43 years in prison for murder she didn’t commit
10·2 years agoI hope the inevitable lawsuit is worth millions.
Unfortunately, unless things have changed it seems like she’ll get screwed by the state again. Many states seem to have laws that limit what the wrongfully convicted can get in terms of compensation.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Population growth ‘masked’ Canada’s ‘recession-like economic backdrop’: RBC
11·2 years agoSure, I can get behind that. The issue with our country isn’t immigration though. Like you said, it’s handing over our money and future to the Westons, etc. While we should be focused on that, we’re discussing immigration. This isn’t a new tactic and people fall for the bait so very easily

Canada@lemmy.ca•Population growth ‘masked’ Canada’s ‘recession-like economic backdrop’: RBC
133·2 years agoBut… but… All this time Canadian news media have been feeding me rage bait about immigration being the root of all of Canada’s problems. I don’t know what to think! /s
It’s a common talking point of climate deniers, so they can excuse their own inaction.
*Edit: speeeling
Funny you say that. One of our province’s far right premiers, blamed “progressives” for the same kind of rhetoric in Canada that led to the Trump shooting in the US.
