I like using Brave. They also have some AI features but they’re super easy to turn off.

1·4 months agoJellyfin is awesome. The only thing is getting remote access to work has been hard for me to figure out. I’m very glad that there’s multiple good options for media servers.

22·4 months agoA couple years ago I bought a lifetime license for Plex and it has been so wonderful. I can truly own my media that I’ve purchased, watch it from any device, and share it with Family and close friends.

11·5 months agoOh I didn’t even know it struggles with that. I haven’t used Jellyfin a whole lot but I think it’s good to always have a backup.
Hopefully they get that fixed as well.

161·5 months agoMan I’ve been waiting for Jellyfin to get Transcoded Downloads forever. This will get it so much closer to being completely viable as a replacement for Plex.

Proton ecosystem for Google stuff
I don’t really know of any social media alternatives.
Firefox, Hardened Safari, or Brave for Browsers (I prefer Brave especially on ios. The add blockers and protections work a lot better than a lot of options) I also mainly used hardened Safari for a while and it also worked really well.
1password works great for passwords, I’ve also heard great things about Proton Pass which is part of the Proton ecosystem. (I want to try Proton eventually when I can afford it)

4·1 year agoPlain old vanilla. We used to get those big gallon buckets of ice cream cause they were cheap.

2·1 year agoYeah always around 2k online. There was a jump to 5k lately because it was super on sale on steam. I can usually always find a match (anecdotally for me on steam anyways)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most polarizing thing you've ever done or said?English
5·1 year agoI’m curious what makes you say that. What evidence is there to support Marxism? Isn’t Marxism just communism? Just genuinely curious. I always thought that communism has been proven not to work multiple times throughout history. Not trying to say I think Capitalism is perfect. I definitely agree that Capitalism that is unrestrained and companies that are allowed to reign free is bad for the common people.
I’d have to say an all time classic for me is Mario Kart, just so much good fun memories playing with my brothers.
Also Grid, and Grid 2. Just really deeply enjoyed both, played em a ton.
A final note would have to be the games that were part of the MX Unleashed series, just so much fun racing dirt bikes and doing all the awesome tricks.

92·1 year agoAt this point the only thing holding me back from switching to Jellyfin is Plex’s transcoded download function.
I use NextDNS. I use it network wide on my home internet and also have it installed on all my devices.

4·2 years agoThis same sentiment is what’s driven me to pirating all the movies and tv shows I own. I want total control over the things I’ve bought and paid for with my money. I also think this is crucial for the preservation of media.

Interesting. Could you expound on why that option, and what some pros and cons would be?
