7·3 months agoFor a second I was confused. Thought meme was talking about the secret knowledge you can find in that dream space while snoozing.
So many of life’s mysteries become clear there. But then you get up and it all turns out to be unhinged nonsense.
Really? Generating real-looking faces has been doable for years now. MS paint copy/paste over an actual ID with the letters/numbers scrambled seems like child’s play.
(Not that I would ever publicly condone ID fraud. That would be a terrible thing)
edit: oh. To do it en mass to fuck up their databases. Yeah that’s fair. For a one-off: easily doable. At scale… Fair point
This. It’s an Xbox with access to the Steam library instead of Game pass.
I think there will be some PC folks who get one, but I bet that won’t be the biggest audience. Their target audience is console players who are currently putting their cash into Sony and Microsoft.
It answers the (console player’s) question: “why can’t I just buy a box that let’s me play steam games from my couch on my nice big TV?”
What a wild counter-idea. “Go back in time and kill Hitler”: played out. “Go back in time and clash with the invading aliens who have sent their own people back in time to destroy us from the past by installing players that will wreck us as a species over time”: oh. As I say it, this is half-way to This is How You Lose the Time War
Doesn’t it though? “You’re pretty X for a Y” assume X people aren’t Y naturally. Fill in the blanks for smart : woman :: attractive : trans
Perfect meme to describe what’s happening. Yes, fedi has some UX issues and is not very beginner friendly.
But also, people have gotten so used to being spoonfed content from an algorithm that tells them what they want to see that they can’t handle the prospect of “build your own algorithm”
Corpo-curated-content is a hard drug and most people don’t realize that they have an addiction.
Chaotic war-crime: dog-ear where you make the fold exactly big enough so it points to the line you left off on.
Yes I did this sometimes as a kid and I still feel bad for the librarians who had to see the devastation I wrought.
This 100%. So, how do we make it so that it’s more profitable for the corporations to go after each other rather than just continuing to bleed we lowly commoners?
If it’s black, fight back. If it’s brown, lay down. If it’s white, goodnight.
