Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube says goodbye to decade-old video player UI, but users hate the new designEnglish
7·10 months agoI’m using Pinchflat to do that as well. It can download vídeos from Youtube channels I follow using yt-dlp and checks automatically fpr new videos. Check it out, it might be similar to what you want to do

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•How is GOG Galaxy Still Not On Linux?English
14·1 year agoIt’s also a nice way to use a single launcher to replace 2 / 3 (Epic Games, GOG Galaxy and Amazon gaming).
On Linux I only use Steam and Heroic.
Could it still be called “cavalry” if they’re riding bears?
Not on LineageOS with MicroG either
The last one “And they have a plan” is from Battlestar Galactica
Self hosting doesn’t mean you should host everything yourself at home, using a VPS you manage (so the data inside it is still yours) is also a viable option for selfhosting. I myself host some services at home and a few others in a VPS.
As for Dyndns, I’ve used a few providers over the years. DuckDNS is the one I’ve been using for 5 years or so and it’s not failed me once. Pretty happy with it.
Maybe you could have a duckdns pointing to your dynamic IP and your domains / subdomains with a CNAME pointing to the dyndns address?
Oh yes, I remember them. Every few years I remember the Badger song and play it for a while + some other catchy old Weebl’s stuff like Amazing Horse, Where can you see lions (only in Kenya)… Oh god, the more I think about them the more I remember.
Apparently Badger Badger is from 2003.
Caramelldansen (gif + music) is from 2005.
Daft Hands from 2007.
Dancing Baby is even older, from 96 / 97.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Are there any games you're planning to pick up during the Steam and GOG sales?
7·2 years agoI just got the pack with Tunic and Death’s Door. I had Tunic in my wishlist for a while and finally bit the bullet. Yay! 2 more games into the backlog!

Technology@lemmy.world•A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's backEnglish
31·2 years agoYou lasted until Windows 7? I’m guessing you didn’t have to deal with Windows Vista’s bs then. I changed ship thanks to Vista.
I also suffered Windows Me, but I was too young and at that time I didn’t know there was an alternative.
I dual booted Vista/7 and Ubuntu/Mint for a while but after not using Windows in years ended removing it completely. Now I’m a happy

Steam@lemmy.ml•PlayStation's CEO drastically underestimates the Steam crowd's patience, thinks PC gamers will buy a PS5 for exclusive sequels
3·2 years agoSony, the friendly publisher who is making PC gaming friends every day with their “required PSN” addition to already released games (and new ones to be published) thinks these same PC gaming folks will buy a console to play PS exclusive sequels…
Why do they think that someone who hasn’t bought a console already for games like Bloodbourne, God of War, Uncharted, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon: Zero Dawn, etc. would buy one for a sequel of any of them??
I’ve been using Pinchflat for a while and so far it’s been great for me. It can automatically rescan the channel or playlist on a defined time (like every day or every week), and download new videos. It uses yt-dlp so you can configure all the parameters you want it to use for the download

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Snikket is a simple, secure and private messaging app (based on XMPP)English
2·2 years agoI know, bit Snikket still uses ports 80/443 for its web interface and group file sharing service. It even has a page for Reverse Proxy configuration, but it doesn’t include Traefik and the configuration is non-trivial

At least it’s not Comic Sans IN THE IDE (or vim/emacs for the brave).

Luckily you don’t need Window$. You can install Edge on your Linux distro of choice! Will it then show warnings telling you Edge is the bestest browser when you use it to search for another browser? Who knows, why not try it and find out??? Please someone use Edge on Linux, Micro$oft is now a friend of Linux

I remember that episode! Was it from Clarissa?
Somehow I had forgotten that series altogether, and thought the episode was from Sabrina the Teenage Witch… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
