Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•We don’t memorize phone numbers anymore, we rely on GPS to tell us where to go and Facebook reminds us of birthdays. What else will we stop remembering once AI remembers everything for us?
1·6 months agoBus numbers and it’s connections. Growing up in a metropolitan Asian city, I enjoyed taking buses everywhere. To school, to grandparents place, to friend’s houses, to friend’s grandparents houses etc, I could give routes that went through posh neighbourhoods, or food recommendations along the routes.
It was my super power before Google maps came along 🥲
Heroes
This. I absolutely loved the concept especially how book 2 and 3 turned out, not a typical sequel in a linear fashion, that blew my mind.

1·11 months agoThat is a beautiful book storage. But that price tag though 👀
Hah. Wardrobe currently it’s just rolls of teeny tiny clothes. Sorted by long or short sleeve.
Sophie’s world by Josvein Gaarder and unbearable lightness of being by Milan Kundera.
Read these in my late teen rebellious age, made me introspective and really emo (read: pretentious and annoying) and gave me a philosophical lens and human psychological lens in my relationships with others and with the world.
May not be typically mind-blowing books as they are, but coming in that time in my life, it shaped my world view.
I really liked Bugs Bunny smiling

Turn the self deprecation to common hatred for running…

Sorry to hear that. No specific tips for you, but I too have had a groin strain since January (not warming up, new shoes, running too hard)
I spent Feb lying to myself that it was a ache rather than a strain and it would go away. Come first weekend of March, half marathon race, ‘realised’ it’s not a ache but a strain/ injury (shock Pikachu face), struggletowned past the finish line,
Since then I’ve committed to 3 weeks of no running, just yoga stretching and some squats stuff.
Hoping this self diagnosis will work (because I’m a cheap ass to see a PT)
better luck to you
15 year running chafer here, I’ve learnt to live it with some help from Vaseline.
Tired of spending countless bucks on tops, tights and shorts only for the designs to change in a few years to chafe again, or my body grows in whatever ways to chaf.
I just slab on the vase
Now we just need a King of Europe…
It’s a fear of looking at things with a lot of holes
Now I’m wondering about the taste of salted flies on my runs. Proteins and electrolytes directly in 1 gulp

Running@lemmy.world•Am I Built Weak or Something? How do I fix it?
2·1 year agoFirst of all, well done in getting out there.
Secondly, plantar, knee, shin, hip, calf pain comes to me as well whenever I change new shoes, run hard on new surfaces, run hard on up/downslopes and trail, or pretty much change anything.
So my tip would be to vary the surfaces, vary between easy and easier until you’re comfortable, listen to your body, no shame in walking.
YouTube offers simple exercises to stretch different pain areas when you’re at home.
(I’ve been running for more than 15 years)
