  • Half a trillion in equity is so unfathomable in my reality.

    $500,000,000,000

    Let’s say I ask him for 0.001% of his wealth… I would get $5,000,000.

Now let’s put this into perspective of my reality. If I had $1000 and someone asked me for the same 0.001% of my wealth, I would be handing over $0.01.

    One cent.

I understand that this wouldn’t be sustainable if I give everyone one cent from my pot of a thousand… but still. Have a trillion dollars makes me sick.

  • The firearm culture, and how normalised it is.

I went into a Walgreens in Chicago, and waited in line behind two other people. There was a cashier free but the person in front of the line was waiting to be called. The guy behind the person in front politely said, “ma’am, the cashier is free” ‘I’m waiting to be called” was the response.

So the guy behind her just walked past her, and she pushed him and said, “Careful buddy, you’ll get shot for doing something like that”

I was taken aback at how quickly a simple discourtesy escalated to shooting someone. It just blew my mind that shooting someone over queue jumping was verbalised, and seemingly normal to each other.

  • Thank you for the article. The more I learn about it, the more fucked up it truly is. I had a basic understanding of bad it was from a simple perspective, but the more you learn, the more messed up it becomes. I really hope there is something good to come from how monumentally messed up the situation is.

I’m getting used to GDPR regulations in my line of work I haven’t had to deal with… primarily with how my industry uses AI transcription for media. We have to be very careful with which transcription services that reside outside of the UK are used. so if for example, we use an S3 based transcription service in the cloud that is based in France, we might come into issues, even though they might be GDPR compliant. It’s all a bit of a mess, but once you know what to do it is okay, but to cut through the red tape to get an answer can be laborious because so many people need to agree to the request

That’s just one little thing, out of hundreds of impactful changes because of Brexit. It really was a ballsup
