As others have said, lactose free milk! As another option, my local vegan cafe also offers things like oat milk and coconut milk - and while they don’t quite give the same foam as regular milk, I reckon they make a much better tasting latte.
As a FFXIV player, your experience or understanding of the game sounds like an outlier… I’ve played for 2+ years, it’s the most positive, welcoming and lively community I’ve ever come across!

7·3 years agoPresses like Fitcarraldo, Charco, 404 etc. are responsible for introducing me to some of the best reads I’ve had in recent hears, from authors like Jon Fosse, Olga Tokarczuk, Helen McClory and Selva Almada. I was introduced to the women in translation month through these publishers and it’s led to some of the most meaningful reads I’ve ever had. I therefore have a lot of love for many of these publishers and it’s fantastic to see so many of them making such an impact.

When dialling in (I’m new to it), I like to try and maintain the same brew time. So I’ll adjust grind size to try and account for this, although I’ve found that as I go through a bag I end up wanting a finer and finer grind. Does also depend on the roast of the coffee, so if a roast is darker than I expected I’ll grind a little coarser as I believe darker roasts extract more easily.
I own the Eureka - for my purposes, and the price I paid, it’s fantastic. It grinds great for filter coffee, and I can fine tune it to my heart’s content. It gives nice, consistent results.
But you’re right, the retention is not good. I’m looking into getting some sort of 3D printed bellows so I can flush out the retained grounds - I’ve otherwise resorted to tapping the hopper a good few times to get the last gram or two out.
I did originally consider the Fellow Ode 2 or the Opus but the price was just too much. I’m sure they’re excellent but I couldn’t justify spending so much money, €180 for the Eureka is already quite a lot.

I’m using James Hoffman’s recipe as found here. I can’t say that weak instant coffee with coffee cubes sounds particularly enjoyable!

I’ve been replying on my v60 daily now, never fails to make a good cup! Maybe I’ll make an aeropress once every so often each month for a change.
Recently started making Japanese style iced coffee and that’s been fantastic for the warm weather!
I have also been experimenting with a Flair Neo, but I’ve yet to make something I’m entirely satisfied with.

61·3 years agoAt the time of commenting, RIF is also working - judging by the way Reddit has handled things over the last month or so, I’m sort of expecting they’ve fucked up with the API switch



What’s your recipe/technique for this? Whenever I make it I can only ever succeed in clumping up the pecorino (although I have to use gluten free pasta which maybe contains less starch than regular pasta). Doesn’t stop it from being very tasty but I want to be able to do it properly!
