Maybe they should look at why engagement is down among their existing players instead of trying to shovel in new ones…

I don’t think you can shit post facts. Know an Argentine girl, last name is so German she’s not allowed to cross the Rhineland.
I didn’t know it was on Steam. Had that stupid blizzard launcher just for OG Overwatch
It was recommended until they changed their business model to charging advertisers to be allowed through the blocking because they were “the good type of advert”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is the reason for the image of a camera to look further away than the same scene through my own eyes when I have the camera arms length away and closer to the thing I'm looking at?
1·3 years agoIt’s tricky.
You can come close to the perspective with what we call a “normal” lens (50mm focal length on full frame, 35mm on APS-C Crop sensors).
The other issue you have is that human vision is not a sharp rectangle and that it’s extremely dynamic. You can look around a scene and refocus your vision almost instantly, while a photograph provides one fixed viewpoint and focus.
One more thing to improve perspective in images can be the use of comparisons in the image. A mountain with a house or a person at the bottom can look bigger because our brain knows how big those things are and understands the scale. In the case of the spider I usually photograph them next to a coin, as most people will recognise how big that is.

151·3 years agoIt’s due to the field of view of the lens and perspective distortion.
Very annoying.
You see a huge mountain, you think “I’ll need a very wide lens to fit this in” and then the mountain looks very small.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Cops still take more stuff from people than burglars do
513·3 years agoI’m not agreeing with it, but if I had $100k in my back pocket I would know how I got it. Like I said, the article should have focused on normal people with reasonable and understandable amounts, who probably wouldn’t be able to afford the court costs either.

2112·3 years agoThis was a good article, US centric, but interesting. Would have been better if it didn’t start with a picture of a happy looking dog and a seizure of $100k cash which the author can’t even explain. The law says you have to prove you didn’t get the money illegally, if I had $100k in my suitcase I think I would be able to explain how I got it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Android users who don't use the stock launcher - what launcher do you use, and what do you like about it?
30·3 years agoNova, but the devs sold out and are VERY aggressive towards the community if they question the motives of the new owner, so if I wasnt so ingrained in it, I probably wouldnt recommend it.

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Firefox now has speed parity with Chrome on the Speedometer benchmarkEnglish
18·3 years agoMS didn’t do nefarious things with their market power? They virtually killed all competition in the market.
Chrome is worse. Because Chrome isn’t about having you use the browser, its about knowing what you do with the browser. Google already changes it’s search page, for example, on mobile Firefox can’t see the same sports results and league tables, and can’t easily see the reviews of local restaurants etc.
A bit of humour is fine, but when it drowns out the actual information it’s frustrating.
Is it just me or is there no mod tools or chat messages in connect?
Yeah if people start going for Karma we’ll be plagued by “this” and stupid puns. Yesterday I saw a reddit post where the guy misspelled WiFi as Wife when explaining his problem, and then the top 10 comments were “omg dude you can’t just get a new wife” or “I wouldn’t come to Reddit for a problem with my wife”
The actual solutions to the problem were rubbish too

There are many songs that just can’t be covered
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love is another I think just can’t be topped despite being so simple.
