Pfp is my #chinchilla, Muffin, begging to be let out for floor time so she can eat my baseboards. Banner picture is of my two #cavy boars, Oreo (right) and Coffecake (left), who are claiming that I have never fed them once and will soon starve to death, despite the full food bowl behind them.

I mean, there’s a reason I didnt lead with that lmao. I know it’s demented but I don’t think it’s completely insane. I mean, George Lucas had a similar experience that gave him the idea of starting the Original Trilogy at Episode 4

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When should I stop watching the Mandalorian?
13·8 months agoLong story. When I was a kid, I found a cool semi-epistolary 8-book series at my school library about a modern-day kid named Pendragon hopping through a portal to save alternate timelines. It was so cool to me that the series jumped around in time so we had to figure out when we were in Pendragon’s timeline. Turns out my school shelved them in alphabetical order, and they also lacked the first and last books. I had a blast & I’ve been trying to recreate that experience ever since.

Can’t argue with that. But usually when I’m interested in a series I watch the episodes of each season in a random order, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to accidentally start with the shit parts.

She actually does not like being pet. She tolerates it as part of interacting with her humans, and she will climb all over me if able, but touching the royal person is usually forbidden. What she wants here is to be let out for floor time!

Happy birthday Perseus! I can’t see the pic from Mastodon. Hopefully they fix that someday.

I think we might have the same brand of cage. Do you also have a Critter Nation cage?
Needs more recursion!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How long could a kid be sent to juvie for trespassing on museum property i proximity to a robbery?
1·11 months agoWell, the thing she definitely (but not proveably) stole is basically something like a mix between the Millenium Puzzle, the Lament Configuration, and the Behelit. Very very bad news to have stolen, and under normal circumstances the only person to have a motive to steal it would be the next dark lord.

I don’t think so. We’re going to see *normal* malice from government employees. For example, the macguffin she stole was being displayed in a museum as bait for Baby Voldemort, who happens to be her best friend. Normally the dark lordling isn’t a team player and would just charge in and grab it, so there was a security team to nab anyone who tried to steal it and then Get Rid Of Them. Obviously detaining people for pre-crime is not legal, so this was a secret operation.

Huh. I never considered that. I think i need to rework her backstory a bit, since I wrote that she’d already been to juvie once in 2nd grade when she turned the school bully into a speedbump. If there’s a minimum age for criminal liability, what would happen to that murder charge?

Fantasy setting, gonna be inspired by America because that’s what I know. Main change is that lawyers are, by nature of the magic system, always wizards. The actual story takes place in magic school, and this isn’t the main character so the trial isn’t going to be given much attention.

3·11 months agoFor context, the macguffin in question is something like a cross between the Millenium Puzzle and the Lament Configuration. It takes a powerful mind and will to solve it, and the sort of people who are drawn to it will do great things—terrible, yes, but great. It’s reasonable to assume this 10-year-old middle-class white girl stole it because she’s going to grow up to be the next Voldemort, so I think its reasonable for the judge to throw the book at her.

Minor correction: the word for this is paramagnetic. Paramagnetism happens when a molecule has unpaired electrons, whereas diamagnetism happens when a molecule has no unpaired electrons. You’re pretty much entirely right, though
@SteposVenzny
Alfies’s curse is a sign that she’s the reincarnation of Cadmus Blair (think Salazar Slytherin). Considering that Alfie’s draconic greed is well-established far before she starts turning into a dragon, I think these traits would have to be encouraged by her family. It’ll be a point of tension with Terry, since his sister is spending a lot of time with a family that loudly hates that their daughter is required to take useless classes like Reading, History, and Natural Philosophy ☹️

Look, my character is a #pan ass genderfluid bottom and I just need some help getting the feel for that since I am none of those things
