My poor wife is one of those that needs the industrial-strength scaffolding, and still managed to run a half marathon without black eyes and a broken jaw recently.
Bra engineers are underrated.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows users keep losing files to OneDrive, and many don't know whyEnglish
5·1 month agoAt this point I’m surprised there’s still files, and not an AI trained on the files that you have to describe the contents to so it can maybe give you something resembling your file.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Bazzite has seen a massive jolt in growth over the holiday season, surpassing 50k active users. The Fedora Atomic image has gained 38.8k users total in 2025 since it began counting in April 🥳
5·2 months agoI’m no expert but I didn’t have any trouble compiling and running a native Linux FPS game in an Arch distrobox on bazzite to test a bugfix.
I’m just good enough with Linux to know my way around and to break stuff when I have unfettered access to mess with the base system. Bazzite saves me from myself.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Switching to AMD GPU for better gaming performance?
6·2 months agoI can count on 1 hand the number of GPU driver resets I’ve had this year, and they all started when I got my new 9070XT, and stopped when I nuked my multiple years old Arch install.
Hell yeah

Linux@lemmy.ml•Bazzite just delivered over a petabyte of ISOs in a single month
11·2 months agoI had such a good experience switching to bazzite (from arch btw) that I put Aurora on my wife’s Ryzen 2500u laptop when windows 10 was taken out to a nice farm.
That went well until she said her friend’s kids couldn’t play games anymore. I quickly and flawlessly rebased it to bazzite and set up games.
A few hiccups with lacking Microsoft Office and having to learn the alternatives was the only issue she has had but that only took a few days for her to get down.

One you got rid of that pesky oil viscosity, it got more efficient. Same thing is going on in modern cars.

2·4 months agoBack when Napster was a thing, I shared “Somewhere I Belong” by Linkin Park and after the lyrics “I have nothing to say” all the vocals were removed by a shitty winamp plugin. Kid me thought that was hilarious.
I bought a 98 Contour for $275 about 15 years ago (tweaker really needed pills) and immediately drove it 900 miles one way. Once I was at my destination I heard coolant boiling in the head. Drove it another year until the tensioner broke on my way home from work. Kept driving cuz I had funds for my next vehicle already saved. Engine no longer had compression by the time I was about a mile from home. RIP little shitbox. Best $275 ever. Scrap yard gave me $200.

Cars - For Car Enthusiasts@lemmy.world•Shopping for a fairly rugged hatchback (or compact cross) w/ AWD. Maybe Forester vs Mazda 3 Hatch?English
2·5 months agoI have a 2015 Mazda3 automatic that’s been pretty great for 252k miles. Full list of repairs beyond typical wear parts has been the rear camera and camera wiring, rear camera switch, infotainment screen (all under warranty btw), and the accelerator pedal.
It has also had about $5k of repairs from the wife hitting a curb at 55mph. One bunch of suspension parts and a new engine cradle later…
Still runs and drives like new.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there a "healthy" amount of dandruff?
3·5 months agoI did this for a bit. My barber lady commented how nice and healthy my hair was for the first time ever. Then I got a job that was too dirty to keep it up. Had metal dust on my scalp no matter how I tried cleaning with just water.
Added conditioner to the routine and that worked for that issue. Still no poo.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Valve seems to have quietly rolled out a major upgrade to their Anti-Cheat system and it’s apparently wrecking havoc on cheat providersEnglish
4·5 months agoA buddy of mine had many bans on CS: Source servers for cheating. He’s computer illiterate and gamed on an IBM T42 at 640x480, but paired with headphones he was a monster. I know for sure he didn’t cheat, he was my roommate and I seen bans happen with my own eyes.
Dude couldn’t look at a titty online without windows needing a reinstall, there’s no way he could download a cheat.
GUI elements in the taskbar on a shared work computer or any of the new UI style like to just disappear on hover. Or at random. Or only appear on hover.
Its a pretty recent Lenovo system with a Quadro, a 4k scaled and 1080p monitor. It doesn’t do it when IT remotes in, ever.

That Dollar Tree Tussin DM was good stuff in my young and dumb days. Robotrip for $2.

Frontpage Express is how I learned basic HTML.
Basically I’d make something look like how I wanted, then just delete all the extra trash and repeating tags until I knew enough of what it did to write my own.
