linuxmemes@lemmy.world•And I don't plan to switch back either. Everything is just better on Linux for me
71·2 years agoWhat’s a folder comparator? Showing the difference between two directories can be done with
diff -qr dir1 dir2or with a gui with mold (one Google search away my dude). If installed via flatpak you may need to give it permission to your files (flatseal is nice for that)

Technology@lemmy.world•What do you think of framework and their methods?English
243·3 years agoFramework: We design our products to last, to reduce e-waste
Enthusiasts: buys their products even though they don’t need new ones, just because they’re cool, producing more e-waste in the process

Is libre office calc not compatible with excel?

Technology@lemmy.world•Everything Made By an AI Is In the Public DomainEnglish
577·3 years agoIn my opinion, the copyright should be based on the training data. Scraped the internet for data? Public domain. Handpicked your own dataset created completely by you? The output should still belong to you. Seems weird otherwise.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why should I primary Linux for Home Desktop and which one do you recommend?
8·3 years agoIt’s hard to have a clean windows install. Forced update? Now you have a weather widget. Installed an app? New icon on desktop. Don’t use onedrive? Fuck you here’s the unremovable shortcut in filexplorer.
When I switched I was just curious. (Love to tinker with something for hours) But now I think the other way round. Why switch to a non open source OS when I can do everything on a free one (both meanings). Granted professional work is still very much reliant on special software made for windows

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why should I primary Linux for Home Desktop and which one do you recommend?
3·3 years agoI love that winget exists but it’s not really comparable. I think it doesn’t really do dependencys of if it does the packages don’t really use that. Also the packages are still stuck in the windows mindset of having to update on their own with each having their own update service

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Could we improve men’s mental health?
4·3 years agoI don’t know what it’s like in the rest of the world, but I always hear how many people seek a therapist, but can’t find one. I don’t even know if there’s something wrong with me, but I’m interested in finding out. But I don’t think it’s bad enough to warrant to “steal” a spot for somebody who actually needs it, just for interest sake. (Could be the “man” in me talking though, saying “I’m fine”)
You could also open the Pop! Shop, have it load, freeze and then upgrade via terminal. They should really fix that shit
Nah, because it looks nicer and does a sudo apt update beforehand. But yeah I like short commands a well

I have no clue what you’re talking about but feel your pain in this Stackoverflow-like thread. Accept this website as my condolences.
