Ευχαριστώ για την απάντηση! Ναι φυσικά, δεν αναφέρθηκα στον ρυθμό ανάπτυξής σας, απλώς αν ο στόχος είναι η διάδοση του ελεύθερου λογισμικού, θα έχει μεγαλύτερη επιτυχία η παραγωγή περιεχομένου σε μια γλώσσα που μιλάνε περισσότεροι άνθρωποι.

Αλλιώς καταλήγουμε με περιεχόμενο που ήδη από τη στιγμή της συγγραφής του, έχει εξ’ ορισμού ένα παραπάνω εμπόδιο στο να έχουν πρόσβαση άνθρωποι, και μάλιστα εσκεμμένα από τον συγγραφέα. Συνήθως το ελεύθερο λογισμικό προσπαθεί να έχει και διάφορα πλεονεκτήματα, όπως η εκπαίδευση του κόσμου, η βελτίωση της ιδιωτικότητας του ατόμου, κλπ κλπ.

Γράφοντας ο καθένας στη γλώσσα του, είναι σαν να λέμε ότι μόνο οι λίγοι που μιλάνε την γλώσσα αξίζει να χρησιμοποιήσουν πχ ένα λογισμικό που έχει μεγαλύτερη ιδιωτικότητα. Αυτό προφανώς δεν συμβαίνει άμα κάνουμε τις ίδιες ενέργειες αλλά χρησιμοποιώντας μια γλώσσα που μιλάει ο μισός πλανήτης

Οι άνθρωποι που μιλάνε αγγλικά, είναι πάρα πολύ περισσότεροι από εκείνους που μιλάνε γαλλικά, κι αν πρέπει κάθε κείμενο να το ξαναγράφουμε 200 φορές σε 200 γλώσσες, αφιερώνουμε ενέργεια που θα μπορούσε να βοηθήσει και με άλλους τρόπους το έργο

I don’t always like it much either, but we do need a common language for exchanging information etc; there is already too much fake news, misinformation, and echo chambers without having a language barrier.

Why is your user target group mainly a French-speaking audience? It seems like hosting services in English would be more in-line with having a “Free-Libre society”; instead it is “Free-Libre society but only in French-speaking regions”

Where do you see if a key is bought with stolen credits card data?

Of course you can’t 😅 What I searched for is news articles about this happening in the past

• These keys don’t magically appear from somewhere, developers need to generate them on Steam’s UI and give them to sellers
  • Maybe they sell them in bulk? It probably benefits them, since they can sell like 10.000 keys or sth at once, even if they are at a lower price
• I tried to search, and only found one case where the product being sold was bought with stolen credit cards.
  • But this can literally happen every time you buy sth from a random Amazon store… E.g. the mouse pad you’re buying can be from a larger shipment ordered using a stolen credit card
• Of course it’s better to pay the full price on e.g. Steam. But if you’re between buying the game from a key store, vs thinking of paying 10 times the price and always putting it off, I think the developers might even benefit because:
  1. they get money from the key seller, even if it’s less
  2. They probably benefit more from the larger online user base, more reviews, recommendations to friends, hype, etc etc
• If it was that shady and problematic, Steam would start banning users registering keys sold on CD key stores (e.g. I think Xbox already does this)
  • The only thing I kind of worry about (but not related to us as consumers for now), is that Steam probably currently doesn’t have a lot of benefit, since they’re losing a sell, and still need to provide the bandwith and online matchmaking etc; so I’m hoping instead of mayyyybe banning users in the future, they could like charge users or developers like €0.10 for each key used or sth

On accessing Youtube: I’ve been using FreeTube for years and it’s great, it even has support for Sponsorblock, and your subscriptions are stored offline in the app, among other benefits. For the browser, there is also the Libredirect extension, which you can use to easily redirect to Piped or Invidious instances.

If you manage to get yt-dlp to work (btw check that you have the latest version), I’ve also used the “play with MPV” Firefox extension in the past.

Tasker: I haven’t used it, but I’ve seen useful automations over the years from people online and I would probably use a good FOSS alternative.

But that is my point: downvoting the news will not keep people from using it; the people who will want to use it will find it anyway.

In any case, people still want to be aware about it, especially the people who disagree and downvoted it, so they should have upvoted instead, in order to have a proper discussion about the issue they supposedly care about.

Trying to bury it in downvotes to make it disappear from “Hot” does the exact opposite.

It’s about if a post or comment contributes or triggers interesting and engaging discussions.

Specifically for news articles, I find it important to upvote if I’m glad the article was posted at all, since it helps raise awareness about an issue etc, or if I probably wouldn’t have found the article posted on another platform, so maybe I wouldn’t have learned about it at all.

Even if it’s fake news, it’s better for me to be aware that misinformation in being spread about the issue, with people in the comments explaining why it’s fake with sources etc.

The upvote/downvote button is not a change.org petition for making a problem go away by disagreeing with it.

Saw the title and I came here to say that I have the 8BitDo Pro 2, I didn’t need to customize the buttons a lot, but if you really need to do this I’m not sure I’ve seen any other controllers that support this feature, even on Windows.

Same goes with updating the firmware. While researching it, I found that they provided a firmware update for a 2.4GHz controller to make it work with Bluetooth (!). I’m not sure I’ve seen many controllers with upgradeable firmware in general, let alone the company choosing to make it support Bluetooth instead of forcing you to buy their more expensive controller in their lineup.

I like the build quality, I don’t know what you mean but i.e. my Pro 2 of course is not going to have the same build quality as a €200 controller that has metal parts etc.

It was also nice to see that it has a button to change the input mode, which I guess it would be more useful if I had to connect it to consoles etc (but I think I remember I did need to use it once when Steam input was misbehaving or sth)

Oh also I was surprised by the battery life; I think it was advertised as having 12 hours, but after 2 years of using it I happened to notice that I had 25-30 hours of playing time in a game and I hadn’t charged it (now that I’m looking at their website it says 20 hours, but I think there’s been another revision since I bought it)

Last thing I really liked was the removable battery: when your battery needs replacement, with other comparable controllers you either need to buy a new one, or try getting inside the case and solder one yourself etc. Meanwhile my controller comes with a rechargeable LiPo battery, for which you can buy an official replacement, or change it for 2 AA batteries, either rechargeable or not

But I think it’s a pretty universal thing in the EU, that you’re able to pay directly using an IBAN, I’ve even seen “direct bank tranfer” in stores that sell across the EU

Not really a life hack but: folding bicycles are so, so convenient for everyday use (fits in every elevator, fits under your desk at work, fits in public transportation even when it’s crowded, etc)

I really don’t know how they are not a lot more common; you only need a mountain bike if you actually ride on mountain trails often enough. Even non-folding city bicycles are way more comfortable for everyday usage (higher handlebar position and cushiony saddle <3)
