  • First, this is not a Sequoiadendron giganteum, i assure you. Not even Sequoia sempervirens nor Metasequoia glyptostroboides — all of them are simply called redwood, hence mistake is understandable. Could be a super rare form of this plant i’m not aware about, but it’s doubtful. [UPD here, now i can even tell with what exactly you’ve mixed it up — wasn’t it Taxodium distichum you’ve thought about? However, leaves there have more feather-like placement]

Interestingly, llms also made some identification mistakes (some confirm that it’s Sequoiadendron giganteum, some just “The plant in the image appears to be a Juniperus horizontalis, likely a cultivar such as ‘Copper Harbor’ or ‘Good Vibrations’ which can exhibit copper or bronze coloration seasonally or under stress.”) — Juniperus is very doubtful, since some of the species do have similarly looking branches and leaves’ (needles’) positioning on them, for example, Juniperus chinensis. But: branches of different age look differently (younger having small needles sitting close to branches, so they look like threads, and older ones looking much like yours. In other words: The leaves grow in two forms, juvenile needle-like leaves 5–10 millimetres (1⁄4–3⁄8 inch) long, and adult scale-leaves 1.5–3 mm long. Mature trees usually continue to bear some juvenile foliage as well as adult, particularly on shaded shoots low in the crown. This species is often dioecious (either male or female plants), but some individual plants produce both sexes of flowers. Nice facts to know about Junipers. Now, it’s for sure Cupressaceae family (no mistake here, since it also consists of Subfamily Sequoioideae, among others), now the correct subfamily in this case is Cupressoideae, one of the biggest survived species list among Cupressaceae family. Next step is genus identification. Here i can speed up the identification process and just select few genuses, which (along with their forms, if there any) are including common decorative species: Chamaecyparis, Juniperus and Thuja. Problem for identification: they are also the biggest genuses in Cupressoideae subfamily.

Now, in my opinion (which is unreliable) and after quick image search if it’s thuja, that’s probably T. occidentalis ‘Golden Tuffet’, but shrub silhouette itself isn’t quite like yours. If it’s juniper, that’s probably not Juniperus squamata (it’s more dense), more like some decorative form of Juniperus chinensis. Of course, there’s also Chamaecyparis, it easily could be some form of Chamaecyparis lawsoniana or Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Boulevard’ (nah, “soft needles”, yours visually aren’t). But i would not fuck with tens and hundreds of decorative forms. And i don’t think it’s Chamaecyparis or Thuja anyway. Now it’s important to identify all the stuff before treating it.

My opinion about it’s state: maybe, it was damaged by cold weather and it’s simply already dead. But they are quite resilient to weather conditions i’d say. So i, as i always do, would suspect the worse scenario — disease. Probably not parasites. Maybe virus or bacteria (worst possible, specimen quarantine immediately, no contact with other plants, especially of the same species; check for sure and if tests are positive — terminate the whole plant (burning is preferred) and make sure not to re-use soil it grew in or treat it with appropriate chemicals beforehand (if you have a license and can acquire them). Now, not the worst, but very common and troublesome enough scenario are fellow shrooms (fungal diseases or, simply, rot). Strong professional fungicides required, so, respective certificate probably too (depends on country, region or particular state). Theoretically, you can care about it blindly, not knowing exact species and disease. But result will be unpredictable. Here’s some useful [i hope] info on that matter: Example of common rot diseases for… Common diseases affecting Junipers include Cedar-apple rust, which causes galls on twigs, and Phomopsis blight, leading to tip dieback and browning of needles. Other issues include Cercospora needle blight and various twig blights caused by different fungi. Common diseases of Thuja include Arborvitae needle blight, caused by fungal pathogens like Pestalotiopsis and Phyllosticta, and Kabatina twig blight, which affects the tips of branches. Proper management includes pruning infected parts and applying fungicides when necessary. Chamaecyparis trees, like the Port Orford cedar and Lawson cypress, are susceptible to several diseases, including root rot caused by Phytophthora lateralis and Phytophthora cinnamomi, which can be fatal. They can also suffer from nursery blight, which causes tip dieback, and foliage browning due to environmental factors like dry seasons. Chamaecyparis genus’ species: Four species (C. lawsoniana, C. obtusa, C. pisifera, and C. thyoides) are of considerable importance as ornamental trees in horticulture; several hundred cultivars have been selected for various traits, including dwarf size, yellow, blue, silvery or variegated foliage, permanent retention of juvenile leaves, and thread-like shoots with reduced branching. In some areas, cultivation is limited by Phytophthora root rot diseases, with C. lawsoniana being particularly susceptible to P. lateralis. So after finding out which exact plant, or, at least, which exact disease it is, go on with treatment.

As for naming… it’s actually a common mistake to mix up plants called redwood. Many species of different subfamilies of Cupressaceae family are called so. But they are different species.

  • I’m surprised too, since last time i’ve travelled by plane, if i recall it correctly, all passengers were asked to turn off their devices and there was nothing like “enable airplane mode”. But it’s only for taking off and landing. Maybe it’s different in different countries. Maybe my memory is hallucinating tho But i do have some questions about this mode and why it’s still called like this, not some other way. Well, your case just makes a good example of how outdated some things’ naming is.

hide, crimes’ war! crimes don’t sex ❌

Too lazy to continue, but this, how’s it called, “don’t dead, open inside” community was pretty inspiring tho Also, is there any sex war going on in the world currently and of which i’m not very aware?

  • The truth is multilayered and versatile. For example, and also to add variations: noticed some people just periodically fuck others and do as less as possible of any other activities, but in such cases sex is enough for the second to remain in state of constant addiction affection towards first ones. How and what both sides of relationships feel and think about the matter is an object of their individual perception.

But if going in a fields beyond just sex (as one of primary primal definitions of love — because mating-mating, children-children, instincts-instincts), then you’ll find out that many human beings aren’t getting any love at all. Absence of care is also a significant reason of many people’s insecurities and hatred towards everything and everyone, usually including themselves.

    Now…

Go sit in the corner, and think about your life! ©

Fuck, [dog, bull, any kind]shit, tits, pussy ass bitch, hoe oi cunt, removed nazi degenerative cocksuckers, radical junk fuckface etc. But is it allowed to write n-word or something similar in non-racist context and not only once? (before get banned) Depends on the instances and reports/moderator’s mood 🤔 Also i don’t find any of the mentioned slur cunning or inventive, tho some just fits various situations, i’d prefer to see words and phrases i haven’t seen before, something ironically cool or so hard to identify as humiliation or contempt… like real shit

Edit: wait, word that starts with re- and than smoothly continues with tard and if you feel like it ends with -ed was removed before nazi. Sus as fuck to me 👀

Edit 2: kurwa, gotta reality check lemmy now

  • Well, in some of your comments here you’ve very nicely formulated conclusions about Lemmy, which are, i think, spinning constantly in many Lemmy users’ heads — there are indeed many cons presented on platform. Not only because people, while moving on “another platform”, usually forgot to also adapt their behaviour to some new platform, but they moreover bring with them loads of bs that is acceptable on other platforms mainly because of the way they operate. However, some people do it on purpose — to make all possible places as shitty as possible (they kinda build their own image). Another thing is Lemmy’s technical limitations — it’s not a big corporation making money on selling sensitive user data to ad providers and brokers. So, yes, no fancy features, top-tier functions. Honestly, i have no idea about how exactly devs are running platform nor how they planning to run it in the future. Anyway, for now, i just able to accept it as it is currently presented.

It’s nice that you’re trying to keep your feed clean by blocking unwanted instances and/or particular communities. But there are at least a couple of hundreds of communities on fediverse, and at least ~25% are those not abandoned, actively posting. This is a real inconvenience of a platform: why not to let users just pick a bunch of communities they like from a big list and then feed will contain only posts from selected communities. C’mon, there must be some other much less painful method to let users discover new places on platform. Another major pitfall for me is that some instances and/or communities within them block access to their content for other ones. Personally, i don’t think that atomisation and alienation are the points of federation. Let me also add, that Lemmy, despite it’s kinda unique nature, is still an object of monitoring and tool of propaganda and manipulation. Yes, we want some big place on the internet to be exclusively for cool interesting stuff and adequate conversations, but… intelligence 👮🏽‍♂️ always steps in and does it’s worst preventing any attempts of cozy cohabitation. Thou, i’ve seen some definitive tendencies for balance, adjustments for neutrality and compromise in terms of politics and other sensitive topics in major communities and lately there was some significant progress imo + algorithm breaching techniques were quite weak and i’ve seen as less unwanted content as it’s possible for now. However, different parties are constantly seeking for ways to abuse platform and flood it with some total 💩 Moreover, certain countries’ intelligences invest in this kinda shit very hardly, so i cannot really imagine the amount of problems everyone is dealing with in here: from developers to community owners and moderators, and to regular users. Usually, i don’t scroll much of a feed and go straight to preferred communities. Yet, for me it’s still quite interesting to scroll down sometimes and see if there’s any unwanted content (and also what’s going on with certain people’s minds to be ready for bs floods). It’s often presented, unfortunately. Ironically, some of this content included complaints from user, who was unable to block all unwanted instances and communities — while that user’s instance turned out to be unwanted for me 🌚 leftists… some of them behave more like fascists, or nazis. Not really surprisingly, coz their brainrots are just an extremes of very similar bs, ideologies based on hostility, constant violence and repression for “sustainability”.

Only small amount of non-ultra left or right people are able to communicate adequately and defend their position — they often even adequate enough not to consider themselves a part of any modern bs ideologies and so they’re just individuals who had appropriated some, idk, the way they perform some little domestic things, prepare meals and so that makes them a bit “conservative” or “liberal”, but they’re ok, even cute sometimes. But i still get this unwanted content with agitation on “action” (terrorism really), that everything is rotted, end is near, etc. and patridiots screeching on absolutely everyone with different opinion (all 😼, can’t change anything, hooked up on some copium or some other triggering for sensitive people, provocative stuff) — in their instances they usually never get banned, thus they ban everyone else, in order to make their poor dumpsers look civilised; they clean any dissidence so hard it’s implied like there are some random casual conversations between absolutely normal human beings (yeah, that’s exactly why they just always come to consensus in all disputes), while, of course, their communies are strictly moderated and censored as some happy gulag camps or recordings of ice camps of absolute innocence.

Agreed on many Linux users being polite.
