Doesn’t detract from the fact that they are beautiful. These are just as valid in their existence as monarchs. It’s easier, though, to kill things that you label as bad. I do it too. But human activity has made the monarch more pitiable and the lanternfly more hated. These insects are just trying to exist. It is our activity that has caused the problems. Sometimes we must remind ourselves of that, even though we must kill the invasives.

They really are a beautiful insect. Too bad me seeing them around is scary.

Not supporting gas/auto/etc. companies that they use for power. Not doing long car commutes doubling that. Living in/aspiring to walkable, close-knit communities that function rather than exurbs thereby stripping more power away from them by building human links with your neighbors. Etc.

Removing invasive plants on my routes about town. Rootslayer brand, the smallest one. It’s real good.

It’s new tech. Front setup is really good because you can have a conversation with your child very easily while riding. The child also has a really engaging, dynamic view of the world from right up front. Keeps the weight central for a very stable riding experience. And they get a shadow experience of holding bike bars! It’s been a big deal good thing for us.

PS, no shame. The best way to learn is through real world experience. Things happen.

In a perfect world you would just replace that derailleur because undoubtedly there’s some little problem somewhere, those things can be touchy. But in a practical sense just eyeball it the best you can and zip it right back on, see how it goes. If you have persistent problems, you’ll know to swap it out quick.
