Naive is probably the exact word for the feeling I have. Good pick

I really read this as inspirational and cool once upon a time. Part of me still does. There’s a lot of good we’ve done on social media that make my trans friends and family more safe in who they are, broadly speaking…
But there’s also a whole lotta bad as well, and it’s been increasingly less OUR internet as the tech companies just monopolize and censor and steal data.
I’m not so sure I can manage to find this time mag cover as inspirational anymore.

9·2 months agoTheir mandate is that they’re selling the games with a DRM free installer. If it’s delisted, you can still install that game DRM free on anything else as long as you have the files.
Get a USB stick with a cool design, put the installer on it, yeet it in a video game box, throw some box art on it, and you basically have the physical game.
If it feels like the physical game is something else entirely, but I think their mandate is being lived up to just fine :)
Ah fuck, I replied to myself
Good parents for raising good son
I think there’s a difference between “these are a huge waste of time, and always has been. Reddit slop!”
And
“Man, these comics aren’t for me. The punchline never lands, or the art style is a bit strange and takes me out of it”, etc.
The first kind of negativity contributes very little to any sort of discussion other than to be inflammatory. The second one actually invites the discussion you mention in the comment I’m replying to.
'least… that’s how I see it.

1·5 months agoNah, no worries. As you said yourself, the first case is probably easy to find… And besides, the series is so old at this point, it’s entirely on me for not having played it yet. I’ve owned them since the PS Vita days. I just straight up haven’t prioritised it yet.
I think I’m at the top of mount stupid, because I’m certainly not competent.
I started with Linux Mint and daily drove that for a while. Really liked it too. Then I noticed that screen sharing ssssuuucked when playing games, and since Mint’s Wayland didn’t want to work on my machine, I decided to jump ship.
I’m currently on Nobara (Glorious Eggroll’s Fedora flavor) and… it’s just pretty easy to work with.
Or maybe I’m at the know nothing stage, along with PopOS

2·5 months agoI agree here. I’m looking forward to playing these games myself, but I didn’t even consider it being a possible spoiler before the other person mentioned it.
Thank you. I appreciate the vote of confidence :)
I think a lot of documentation just fly over my head. I have a masters degree in mathematics, but so many manuals have such deeply ingrained “tribal” language that everyone takes for granted that you know.
If you have a good starting point for a poor linux noob to read manuals, hit me up.
(That being said, I DO read the manuals for appliances and all that. THAT stuff is luckily easy)
I recently replayed Metal Gear Rising, and when Armstrong kept talking about how much of a pussy America has become and started yelling that with him at the helm, he’d MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, I was fucking shocked.
Granted, I know that term was an old Reagan term, but fuck, with Metal Gear Solid 2 (2001) being all about the internet flooding with misinformation and AI making it so that you don’t truly know who you’re talking with… And with Rising (2013) being about a dude thinking America is too woke and wanting to make it great again… AND WITH DEATH STRANDING (2019) being all about everyone being locked inside their homes, isolated with little physical connection to their friends and families, only waiting for the mailman to arrive with packages…
Whew, if I had to point out a person I suspect may have a functioning time machine, Kojima might be it…

2·7 months agoCompletely agree! It makes for a game that’s still super healthy to this day, and I love that

21·7 months agoParaphrasing from Frost here; It’s the “stop killing games” movement, Yves. It’s not the “stop games from dying”-movement.
It’s fine if you no longer want to support a game, but you can still make it available offline if you have a lan. Trackmania is a good example, since ubi now owns that. The original is still being played in lans the world over!
So yeah, fuck you, Ubi. It’s a choice to be like this.
