I live in the Netherlands and see about 150 different species of birds every year. That sounds like a lot, but even fifteen years of birding adds up to only about 270 species total. Perhaps this is because I never go somewhere to see a particular bird, I just go to nature reserves because they are beautiful. I have a small list of birds I very much would like to see, but I don’t go out of my way to find them.
