I’d rather this type of legislation not even be entertained in Parliament and treated the same way as if someone tried to propose banning oxygen. I’ll be writing to my MP tomorrow and I encourage everyone reading this to do the same. If you let them take a centimetre of our privacy, they’ll take an entire kilometre.

I’m not too familiar with VPNs that offer IPv6 addresses, so I can’t help with that. But I’m curious about why some people want IPv6 addresses. Are there any benefits to having an IPv6 address?

Unfortunately, Reddit has learned from their mistakes and restricted the ability for moderators to lock down their own subreddits. So any protest actions will not be as effective as 2023.

And just recently, Reddit announced that you can no longer generate your own API keys and will need to request permission from Reddit themselves. This is the final nail in the coffin for 3rd party apps, as back in 2023 you could still generate your own API keys and continue using 3rd party apps. The silence in the public outrage against this is deafening.

Instead of taking drastic actions affecting the most amount of people, Reddit is taking smaller actions that will slowly kill off things they don’t like. This will limit the outrage, and at the same time, they get to achieve what they want.

What benefit does this have over a Zigbee dongle on Amazon that’s cheaper? Would the advantage be that this is a 3-in-1 dongle?

Then the API debacle happened two years ago

Good news! They made things worst a few days ago by requiring users to request permission to get a personal API key. So if you don’t already use a modified 3rd party app with your own API key, then you’re fucked!

I want this to be real.

What about the uneducated fleas?

Depends on the community. I’ve met some very helpful noob-friendly developers who recognize you’re a noob and will use simpler terms to guide you through the process, and passive aggressive assholes that’ll ignore your messages the very second they figure out you’re a noob. Even though they were literally just talking to you seconds before.

As long as they don’t F up the price of the Steam Machine, then this would be wonderful for both the gaming and Linux communities.

I want Lemmy to succeed as well, but not at the cost of growing a community for a subreddit hoarder. The two of us being here is a step forward in ensuring the success of Lemmy.

The last action by a moderator on that c/ was from 27 days ago according to their mod log.

It’s really unfortunate that the largest anime community on Lemmy is operated by a person who currently “moderates” 292 subreddits on Reddit. And if any reasonable moderator can tell you, there’s no way you can possibly be able to split your time across that many subreddits.

In my honest opinion, literally any other anime community is better than the one owned by a subreddit hoarder. This entire idea of hoarding subreddits/communities goes against the single most important principle of Lemmy, which is federation.

But I can’t change your opinion. What you do next is up to you.
