Couple of screws on either side for the sliding problem. Bedazzling to make it fun.

Good point and well said. The law in CA only applies to buildings with at least 15 units, it’s opt-in so landlords will only have to pay for tenants who opt for it, and there are provisions for canceling the service for tenants who don’t pay (then restrictions on their ability to opt-in again). That should help mitigate the impact to mom and pop shops.

I somewhat disagree, because landlords have a say by their sheer number and capital. If credit agencies or reporting services want to gouge landlords, that shouldn’t be the tenant’s problem and landlords should come together to negotiate lower prices. I much prefer the built-in tenant protection here of a $10 per month cap.

CA landlords can charge their monthly cost or $10, whichever is less.

Listen for the tiny screams.
Fun fact: A team in hazmat suits recently cleaned the bus stop I use every day. So yay! And also not yay.

This is my kind of thread pulling. I like your style.

A million percent agree. If you haven’t played it yet, look nothing up and play it as blindly as possible. I’m so glad I did and wish I could do it again.

It’s for worse for sure. What if people didn’t have to worry in their 30s, 40s, and 50s about sustaining their livelihood in late stage capitalism and could instead focus on what makes them happy? I bet “retirement jobs” would look a lot different.

Worked for me. Highly recommend.

Depends on the trip. Part of the joy of arriving is the journey you just endured, so might be worth keeping that in just for the existential exhale you get when you arrive.

I have a lot of unhoused neighbors so I regularly leave out fresh socks, a pair of gloves here and there, basic toiletries, and food for their pets. If one came to my door I’d be happy to try giving a haircut, but no refunds.

This won’t help, but it’s fun: https://youtu.be/igh9iO5BxBo?si=oyLAwhvrhsR4FHSZ

They skipped tape!?

No joke, in certain instances of my profession a few billion is a rounding error. Real money numbers today are fucking enormous.

All the coolest people dab, often and without irony.

“Beryl? Even our Hurricanes are gender non-binary now.”
That’s what he said in response to the National Hurricane Center posting the latest satellite image of the storm.
It’s not nonsense. It’s a sustained attack on both people and science. This kind of message brings the science deniers and bigots closer together, helping to shore up that base and give it common ground.
It’s not that Liam or any other celebrity is more important than anybody else. It’s that they are more widely known. You’re not going to see an outpouring of support on social media for a regular person from Chicago because there aren’t that many people that know them or are affected by their death. That doesn’t make them less worthy of empathy, just less well known.
