Solarpunk Farming@slrpnk.net•Everyone pays the price as patent holders on seeds stifle innovation
3·16 days agoThat’s just a small subset of what’s possible with genetic engineering (see interesting stuff like golden rice), but yes, Roundup Ready crops are patented seeds.

2·4 months agoOne of the unfortunate realities of operating a sensitive service like email is that you have to cooperate with valid government requests or risk getting fined, or worse, banned from the country. The good thing is that end to end encryption restricts the information they have to turnover about your messages, but this is vulnerability of pretty much any service. Your email provider will not go to jail for you.
I do find the IP blacklisting a little ironic considering they run a VPN, but that’s not much of a surprise either considering their freemium business model. I don’t see how either of these practices would link them to Israel, but it’s fair if you’re uncomfortable with them. I think you’d be hard pressed to find services that don’t also do these things, though. What do you use for email?

7·4 months agoI’ve found ProtonMail to be pretty nice. Easy to import your mail into too. YouTube has been hard though. PeerTube is cool but rather small (feel free to ask my any questions about it though). Ideally we’d be using stuff like Nebula and Patreon to support creators directly, but you can at the very least use a fronted to minimize contact with Google.

4·6 months agoI don’t really have anything off the top of my head except Lycanites (though I personally find it annoying). Still you could mine RLCraft and Gregtech New Horizons or other mod packs and see if they have mob mods you like

That’s a good point. I was just thinking on it since I recently reached 500 posts. Might go scroll through them and look at some of the comments again
I actually have no idea! It’s from the Going to Seed organization, so it’s a bunch of different corn from disparate genetic origins thrown together in one seed packet to see what likes your local conditions. So far it’s not doing too badly for being neglected lol
Growing a grain for the first time myself! Have a small plot of corn. I’m really hoping I have enough for pollination, but it’s just a test regardless

It certainly is pretty to look at though
