No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Where do I go for unbiased news in the world without it having an ulterior motive or kissing ass to the establishment of said country?
3·1 month agoReuters and AP (Associated Press) have long been well regarded as being generally neutral.
Of course there’s AI in the bathroom, because AI is shit.
A driver and loading mscdex in dos yes, proprietary Windows software no, at least for a standard IDE/ATAPI cd rom drive. CD data would work as long as the dos driver was installed right, and for cd audio, Windows 3.1x has a driver that comes with it called “[MCI] CD Audio” that will need to be installed in Control Panel -> Drivers. :-)

In that case, I’m definitely not sharing this.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think the gap between significant interesting events is 20 or 30 years or much further, 80 years?
9·8 months ago- The arrival of home computers
- Challenger explosion
- Chernobyl
- Fall of the Berlin wall
- 9/11
- Fukushima
- The arrival of easy to use AI (Plus many more things I’m not thinking of right this moment)
It’s a whole lot less than 20 years, that’s for sure.
“Do you wish to live deliciously?”
You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old. Stay in touch with younger people, and don’t be afraid to make friends with younger people (within reason - stick to 20 or older). Don’t make fun of current slang, you had yours at that age too. Learn it even if you don’t use it yourself. Don’t fall into the trap of “the only good music was my generation’s”, always look for new music to like, even if it’s individual songs instead of whole artists.
Keep taking care of your appearance. Even if you go full gray in the future, if you make a point to look at least good, you’re ahead of a lot of people of all ages.
And remember - gray hair isn’t an embarrassment, every single one is a testament that no one and nothing in life has been able to kill you yet. The more you have, the more it testifies that you are hard to kill. 😁

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Can I possibly download games played exclusively with the mouse, including all the buttons and the scrolling wheel, of the 80s and the 90s ??🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓English
31·10 months agoThat’s the term for very old editions of games that have been mostly “abandoned” by their publishers.

6·10 months agoGenerally, yes. First, you’ll need to find or put together a list of those games. Then, you have two directions you can go. If you’re looking for ease of use, see how many of those games are on gog.com , they specialize in packaging old games to run on modern systems. On the other hand, if you have a little technical knowledge, you can google games one at a time with the word “abandonware”. That will usually get you somewhere where downloading will be possible. Learn how to use DosBox, set up your games in it, and off you go.
