It’s already too late for them so they forgot to smell it all up hence the odor. One afternoon in a nursing home per week can do wonders for people who haven’t Alzheimer’s already!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I hate how inescapable politics are on Lemmy, but at least nobody's constantly asking how blind people wipe their butt or pick up their dog's poop then completely ignoring me when I try to answer.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I'm glad psychedelics entered my life before entheogens became popular. Today's psychonauts are mostly imposters looking for a free ride and social status. Psychedelics aren't meant to be frivolous.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Americans when someone try to sell them air
1·9 days agoIt’s a money kind of thing.
I spend my elementary school holidays working on my father’s farm. When I moved to my mother I started to work for her instead. Doing chores and taking care of yourself was simply expected. No actual choice, since grown ups were out working, sleeping or taking care of the things you’re not old enough to do.
There is a point where people simply can’t afford it to not parentify their children. And the people you perceived as “poor” simply didn’t reach that point.
I don’t want to say my parents weren’t at fault but in that exact moment in their life they had no other choice, at least my mother, who also leaned way more on us.

German here. I enjoy bashing US Americans as much as the next one, but paying rent to your parents is something I had to do after finishing school with 19 (did a social year first and then went to uni and had to share my Bafög). And a lot of people I knew back then, had the same situation at home. At least for families with low income this seemed to be not out of the ordinary.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•None of this "what are you thankful for" shit today. What's something you hate?
20·12 days agoWhatever MS office turned into and that I still have to work with it.
And how governments of “first world” countries so openly shit all over the citizens they should take care of. It’s not new but I feel like we’re reaching a new low every day and no matter where you look at, it’s the same just in different extremes.

Your reaction was totally okay. I wonder why your girlfriend didn’t interfere right away. I would be so ashamed of my parents…

Tinder date, my train was late so late so we meet at the train station and walked to the bar. On the way I had a smoke and he told me in lengths how he quit smoking a while ago and how good it was. That’s when I realized he talks with a fake deep voice, sounded like he’s trying to imitate Batman…
At the bar he switched between small talk and his seemingly hot roommate, he’s definitely not interested in, otherwise they would have had sex already (obviously!).
On the way back to the train station he wanted a cigarette from me.
Nothing bad, just weird flexes all over. The voice killed me…
