Technology@lemmy.world•Cars are like horses: people will soon realise EVs are just better, claims VW bossEnglish
6·12 days agoWe have an ID.3 and a 2012 Audi A5 Cabrio. I love my Cabrio. I would drive it all day if I could. It’s just so much fun.
The ID.3 is a tool. An appliance. There’s… No joy. Because of the empty-ness, because of the flat screens, because I’m being monitored by Volkswagen and I cannot turn that off.
If they could marry the fun and privacy of the Cabrio with the sheer “better-ness” of the ID.3… then I would be set :-)

News@lemmy.world•The Mandalorian and Grogu has lowest box office opening for a Star Wars film in Disney era
10·24 days agoFrom what I understand, they truly do mean to make the lowest possible content money can buy, cram full of “fan recognizable moments” to make the most amount of money out of it as possible.
As in, that’s the goal, on purpose. Not as a “unintended side effect of us just being inept at making anything these days”. But just being VERY good at squeezing money from brands like Star Wars.
Just turning out slop. Easy. Comfy. Low content slop. And then sell stuffed Grogu’s. Andor was a fluke because the director was able to make something out of nothing. Without ever touching so much as “the force” or even a lightsaber!
We need more of that director.

I’m a freelance linux it nerd. I figured I better get used to vim/nvim because every company I visited had different tooling available but their servers ALWAYS had vim.
Now I have a nice .vim setup I can easily copy/paste and work easily and fast. I’ve become quite adept in the years following that decision.
Plus, as a freelance dude using vim quickly and flying through code bases makes it really seem like I know what I’m doing / hacker type … I don’t. And I’m no hacker… But the customer is happy soooo :-)
P.s. I’m currently trying out the Zed editor with vim bindings. They are emaculate!
