  • I’d go with the Wii. It’s super easy to get homebrew running on a Wii and only requires a compatible SD card (technically it’s not required to actually install the Homebrew Channel, but you’ll need one to actually run and store your emulators and ROMs). Just note that later produced consoles had the GameCube backwards compatibility removed.

Homebrew on a PS2 is more complicated. The easiest way to run homebrew is by purchasing a memory card with FreeMCBoot pre-installed. A better way (in my opinion) is to use a SATA modded Sony network adapter (it must be an original Sony unit) with a 1TB or less SSD (for compatibility reasons) and install PlayStation Broadband Navigator Definitive Edition. If you just want to use FMCB you’ll still want a network adapter and drive, but you can use a third-party one that comes with SATA support out of the box. Another thing is that there were a lot of revisions to the PS2 and not all methods of accessing homebrew work with all models.

Edit: I forgot about the PS2 Slim. You can’t use a network adapter with one, which means you can’t use PSBBN without hardmods.

Edit 2: If you go with a Wii, then follow this guide to hack it.

  • EverDrive is pretty great. The prices are definitely premium, but you do get a reliable, quality product. Just make sure you’re either buying directly from Krikzz or an authorized reseller. There are a lot of clones floating around on certain sites (such as AliExpress) that are of varying quality. Additionally, the clones usually run a hacked firmware and trying to use the official firmware will brick it.

It’s worth noting that the N64 and Genesis both have proper EverDrive alternatives. For the N64 there’s the SummerCart64, which is an open source project and seems to have some features the ED64X7 doesn’t (like 64DD support). As for the Genesis there’s the MegaSD from Terraonion. I haven’t used either of them, so I don’t have much of an opinion on which is best.

  • It happened when I was in kindergarten. I was sitting next to a friend on the bus and she got into an argument over something with the two boys across the aisle. Being that we were all 5 year olds, this quickly devolved into name calling. I particularly got into it with one of the boys and he threatened to punch me if things kept going. I though he was bluffing and we all continued with the verbal slap fight until the bus arrived at the school. At that point we got off and lined up to enter the building. Everything seemed to be over at that point. It was not. He delivered on his threat.

He was immediately taken to the principal and I was sent to the nurse. The next day all four of us had to apologize.

  • When I was around 9 or so I went on a road trip with my mother, grandmother, and sister. I believe it was the time we went to Savannah, Georgia. It was the second day of driving around noonish and we were thinking about getting lunch. At this point we were in southern North Carolina and for the past couple hours of driving we’d seen a number of billboards for some barbecue restaurant. So, the adults decided that’s we might as well try it.

Once we actually get to the place it’s a little run down and it’s also obvious that it used to be a Burger King in the 90s. Upon entering the little area that old Burger Kings had before the main room it’s clear that they’re using it as a kind of gift shop. However, it’s not a normal gift shop. It’s all pro-Confederate literature and memorabilia. We really should have left at that point, but my sister (about 1 year and 10 months old at the time) was getting pretty cranky, so we went against our better judgement and went in anyway. The food ended up being awful. The meat was overcooked and dry. Additionally, the only sauces they had were mustard and a mustard-based barbecue sauce.
