I’m hostile towards telemetry by default because of how much spyware there is in today’s technology. I’ll only allow it if it’s reasonable ( e.g. a GPS getting your location, system diagnostics for software devs ) and it’s consentual.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are you boycotting right now and why? Are there any Boycotts you've ended?
26·3 years agoI plan on eventually boycotting English as much as I can. Both because of what global English represents, and to counteract the massive international pressure to do everything in English and its consequences.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The fact that we aren’t aware of every process in our body means our brains aren’t fully connected with our bodies.
2·3 years agoThe fact that you don’t know what Grimm’s Law is means you don’t actually know English.
That our memories are all we really know and have. They’re also volatile, and are usually changed to support a narrative.
Be careful.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a scam that's so normalized that we don't even realize it's a scam anymore?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you do to make the Internet a nicer place?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Think you're tough? Try being vulnerable.

I stand corrected. Still gross asf though.
Same. This place has serious “I use Ubuntu btw” vibes for me.
Why is Archland (btw) so small? Where’s Manjaroland, EndeavourOSville, etc?
What specs do you have that makes GIMP load in 2 milliseconds?
Ugh, Chr*me. Disgusting.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•in Australia, when we pay taxes, we get a receipt. The receipt shows what our taxes were spent on
2·3 years agoMakes sense. I was already worried as soon as I saw “welfare” being bigger than “health”.
Tell me you’re new to Linux without telling me you’re new to Linux.
Ack, my deleted comment is visible somehow!
…Anyway, I agree. I wasn’t saying it’s necessarily bad, just that there seemed to be an influx of new posts that sound like they came from Linux virgins.
I tried vanilla Arch once as a VM and got stuck.
I might try it again one day. For now, EndeavourOS is a good middle ground between Arch itself and Manjaro.

Neither.
