  • Oh damn, that’s really interesting about the squash leaves and raccoons. Those leaves for sure have an unpleasant texture, and raccoons are supposed to have particularly sensitive paws, so that makes sense. That’s really ingenious.

I’ve seen trails of paw prints and drag marks leading out of corn fields, where a raccoon has taken down an entire stalk and dragged it away with all the corn on it! A lot of work if you’re raccoon sized, but surprisingly smart.

I’m a generative AI hater and not a mod, so this is just my opinion, but if you’re wanting to post AI edits I’d prefer for it to happen exactly how you did it here: post the unedited version first, then the edited version in the comments, with disclosure that AI was used.

My initial reaction is that it looked fine, but on closer inspection you can tell that other aspects of the photo have also been changed. The wear and unevenness in the tail feathers has been smoothed over, and it seems a little confused on how to deal with the wispy feathers along the underside, near the legs. Whether that and any other changes are important is debatable, but it does take it one step further away from ‘real picture of a real bird.’ In my opinion as long as non-AI photos remain the focus of main posts and disclosure is mandatory, it shouldn’t be a problem to post AI edits in the comments.
