I think its a liability thing, people get hooked on painkillers, they don’t want to be held responsible for prescribing it. Not sure how regulated certain drugs are, but probably a mix. Not sure why they would hold for certain ops they deem not bad enough. No great answer for this one, could be the system just sucks or there is no really great fix for it.
Word, same, I like owning the physical format. Though it feels more of a collectors thing to do now but I like listening to albums. Sort of a lost art but you can stumble on less played songs and keep growing that playlist.

It was great for music, and burning cds. I didn’t use it much back then though. On it much more nowadays, trying to scale it back again though. One reason I like it here lemmy reminds me more of a classic internet. I don’t online game much either but I like having the option to.
I’m a veteran, no combat service. I was in during President Obama so somewhat recent. I’m past any contract so I can’t get called up. Speaking from some experience though your average enlisted person most likely does not want to deploy or help in LA. They are likely removed about how dumb it is. There might be some who won’t, but you won’t hear about it, they’ll just process them out under “other than honorable” conditions, which maybe is not the worst option given the current admin. To me its a scenario where you would not refuse orders, even though they are dumb and unconstitutional. It would have been hard for me to refuse the current order too, I would be removed the entire time, I know thats not taking a stand. I would do the bare minimum, which is kinda what I expect to happen, extreme low effort but we’ll see. Most comments on the post aren’t wrong, just wanted to point out a general reluctance I do not know what it would take to refuse an order.

My concerns are more with the defaulting of the national debt, and the dollar crashing in value in general. But I agree with the other post might as well hold and hope sanity prevails. Tough times ahead for sure. I’ve thought of bailing too (not too sure we would be appreciated abroad anyways), but we need to right the ship here. And you seem a decent fellow hate to see you leave but I wouldn’t blame you if you do.
I believe you can let whomever your investor is to invest it in more less aggressive funds or stocks bonds. You might be able to freeze it as well and even the option to invest yourself. But you should call whomever handles it they can probably guide you a bit. But I agree it looks pretty bleek. I’m more concerned with the dollar crashing if we default on the debt. It might all be worthless anyhow.

It could be a problem as when we declared war on terror decades ago it is fairly vague and unclear on who or where could be invaded. Label them a terrorist org and boom justification to send US troops to Mexico. Given how the US government is now I am deeply concerned. I was against the war on terror then too, yes we got some bad guys but it still does not seem worth all the civilian deaths it takes. We would have needed permanent occupation in Afghanistan too to keep a democratic rule there. Once it ended to me it seems like it was kinda all for nothing.

it is hit or miss, depends if you like a strong cup. Also takes a few tries to get the water to grounds ratio until it makes one you like. Or if it doesn’t auto stop you gotta keep an eye on how dark it gets
Sit back and hope a financial crisis will break it. I’m not sure what it will take for the national debt to become a focus vs a background problem. I can non-comply on a personal level, but maybe easier said than done. I feel like most people are not happy so that gives me some hope.
