Binding of Isaac and Death Stranding. I just keep going back to these 2 even after I’ve 100% them.

3·3 年前Never knew my mutant blue switch keeb would come in handy one day. I’ve lubed the blue switches and added foam and tapes so now it sounds like a clicky-thocky blue-brown switches keeb.

That’s ridiculous. Wonder if there’s a r/roastme bot somewhere.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.English
11·3 年前Reddit still holds a ton of valuable info in niche topics which will take Lemmy years to build, and that’s only if the niche communities here ever see the light of day. I’ve deleted most of the useless content I have there, but the more helpful ones I’ll leave for the sake of others like me who still visit occasionally for answers you can’t get anywhere else.

Technology@lemmy.world•China wants to limit teens to using their phones for just an hour a day to fight rising 'internet addiction'English
3·3 年前Well, the crackdown has definitely scared the market and wiped out more than $1 trillion worth of stock value. It’s a fascinating case study of the fusion between communism and capitalism, as well as the convergence of centralized control and economic liberalism.

13·3 年前I don’t know if that’s really a good thing, but they have done quite a few decent things like cracking down on the rich for tax evasion (and using the billions “donated” by big corps to provide aid to the lower SES population), and the famous for grooming and sexual assaults. I’m no fan of an authoritarian regime, but there aren’t many places in this world where the rich and famous suffer the consequences of fucking around.
nods I used to sleep with the door shut and locked, and the home alarm on whenever I was out. That’s no longer true ever since the queen demanded that I do neither.
It’s the App Tracking Protection function in Duckduckgo’s browser.

Steam@lemmy.ml•How do I permanently delete Steam Cloud saves for Baldur's Gate 3?
7·3 年前There’s an easy method that someone shared on Reddit 7 years ago which is supposedly still working till this day. To save you from visiting Reddit:
while you are in the game alt+tab and go the save folder of your game -now delete every save file you don’t want -when you are done, close the game -steam will start syncing and delete the files in the cloud as well.
If this doesn’t work, here’s the convoluted method.
Ahhh ok thanks for that! I was looking in the wrong place all along. Wonder why dev didn’t just place this option in or at least next to Sync Ultra. I’ll probably hold out till I see what Boost has to offer first.

Where do I find the $20 option? That’s all I see on the android app.

This, in the span of 30mins or less. It’s a major turnoff. I’ve considered getting the lifetime ad-free version but I’m not paying USD170 just for an app. Got to give credit where credit’s due though, Sync is hands down the best Lemmy app I’ve used so far.

Steam@lemmy.ml•What's up with all the $99 games with a 95+% discount on Steam?
12·3 年前
You’re right. Funny how they’re all the games with “hidden” in the titles and they all look somehow similar. It’s super suss. I don’t think it’s as simple as a cash grab. High chance they’re used for money laundering or transferring funds from stolen steam accounts or credit cards.

6·3 年前I’ve spent enough time on GR to see how it’s held together by duct tape and inertia
GR has always felt like this to me, a legacy app that barely changes with time. I still use it simply for checking general ratings and keeping track of what I’ve read, but I’m old school I guess. What do people actually use them for other than these purposes? I had been using Reddit for book recommendations for as long I can remember.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Has AI made any breakthroughs in other fields? Or how close are we to that happening?
1·3 年前I stand corrected. Thank you for educating me. I just assumed that previous NLP algorithms were not too far off from LLM in terms of capabilities, which is apparently not the case.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Has AI made any breakthroughs in other fields? Or how close are we to that happening?
55·3 年前The “breakthrough” likely happened a long time ago, but as with all tech, it was only recently accessible to the general public. LLM alone isn’t even that sophisticated to begin with.
AI assistant will soon be an essential part of our lives. It will handle grocery shopping based on your dietary requirements, conduct basic diagnosis of your health, create personalized software, books, music, and movies on the fly for you, do your taxes and offer financial advices. All these are already happening.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why most posts (so far as I can tell) have very short lifespan tendency?
92·3 年前Probably because most of us are sorting by top 6/12 hours since there isn’t enough content to keep us entertained every couple of hours if we sort by top day, which will obviously improve as we grow.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why sometimes my car slows down going downhill?
15·3 年前Optical illusion is most likely the reason instead of engine brake if your vehicle slows down significantly in certain areas and doesn’t on other downhills with “similar” angle.
There is this slope near a waterfall around where I live. If you put your car in neutral gear at the bottom of the slope, it rolls “up” the hill. We named it magnetic hill back in high school, but I later found out that it is just an optical illusion that happens everywhere around the world. Basically some uphills look like downhills and vice versa. Google “gravity hill”.

Almost always digital on my tablet or phone these days (I have a Kindle too but just can’t get used to the display), but I’ll buy physical copies to keep and/or give away if I really like them.
